Poppy Marks

Amazing! Watching now with a cuppa!

Twyla Aalbers

Can't wait to see it, been a long time coming

Nicholas & Elizabeth Dyer

Sorry we're not able to view live, am watching an online lecture we'd signed up for before this was announced and it's not recorded. Enjoy and we'll catch up with it later.

Magnus Hallqvist

It was a great episode! Looking forward seeing the rest in the coming weeks!

Zoe Propper

I really enjoyed this preview. Looking forward to next weekend 😀

Julie Gray

What a start to the dig! Can't wait until all three parts are available to get the full story. Loving the idea of the virtual museum with virtual Gus.

Elessa Wylde

Now to wait for Ep 2! Impatience is happening here after watching this.

Freda Bradley

Very enjoyable I felt the sections in the trenches and the explanations seemed really good this year so far. I like the idea of the "virtual museum" to keep me on track, too. Good work by the design team on that!

Doug Mackey

Glorious! Great to see Richard again!

Elise Norwood

So exciting! Thank you Time Teamers. I can’t wait for more.

Jon Colcord

Nice. I figured out how to put Patreon up on my TV screen! I love how Helen was acting like Mum to keep Stewart and John from coming to blows!

Jeffery Stout

This is a perfect episode. Only one presenter whom talks through things. Archeological finds being explained thoughtfully and by experts. This is what I paid for. I was on the fence of renewing my Patreon because last “season” just didn’t feel right. I will be renewing and maybe even changing my level if this continues to improve. Well done Time Team, you all deserve a pat on the back.

Cornelia Baltensperger

A real joy! Captivating information, great tempo, wonderful camera work! And finally - a bit of banter and teasing, absolutely marvellous! Can't wait for the rest of the dig! Wow!

Dee.W

Watched and now can’t wait for days 2 & 3 👏

Mak Wilson

Thoroughly enjoyed that! Wonderful to see the utilisation of the modern technology with good old archaeology. Also wonderful that it is only a couple of miles down the road from me. Congratulations to all involved!

Wolfgang Zenker

Excellent start. I will watch it again now trying to spot the former door that Richard found. Maybe also going back to the 3D model of the chapel that was posted on 2022-10-25

James D Speckart

I'm just so happy to see Richard Morris back! He's just so good at pointing out what is unusual, what is normal, and what is mysterious. Nice return, Time Team!

Don Cook

Magnificent!! All the hope, confusion, and resolute-ish determination ... to find something, anything. A great Day 1 experience! Love it all!!!!

Gina Broze

Time Team’s ability to make me this excited to watch history come out of the ground is a little nuts. Thank you!

Philip Stack

An excellent episode. Congratulations to everyone.

gary hipkiss

Day One:Thanks for all of your efforts to get the best experience

Ian Holmes

I loved that moment between Stewart and Carenza as they packed off the children to do their test pits. Reflecting on how this was how to do archaeology right, perhaps leading the children on to a lifetime interest.

Declan Walsh

Excellent episode. I can’t wait to see more.

LouLi

very exciting!

Tunde Brunette

Very enjoyable. Can’t wait to see day two and three.

Barbara Guest

I really like that Richard Morris is back! Looking forward to the rest!

Christopher Samuel

Oh that was fabulous! My word Richard has an eye for detail. Can't wait to see what the next two episodes will reveal! Also wonderful to see the YAC involved in this too (was a member of Young Rescue in the 70s, which became the YAC). Onwards and upwards!

Sam Kimpel

More! I need more! Great episode - looking forward to next weekend.

Justin Freeman

Glorious, thank you so much for the preview!

Pia Fredfeldt

Loved every minute..❤ Is there a new illustrator on your team, or is it drawings from V. Ambrus Archive? Loved the colourful and drafty illustrations.

Jim Lady

Great to see Richard!!!!!

Hunt

Off to a great start. Nice lot of finds coming our already.

Ann H

Rectangular perimeters, square fish ponds, rebuilt dovecots, tiles, and dates for a spindle whorl. Original docs with flipable digital pages. Love it. Much improved sound tho still a bit muffled at moments.

Bob Pockney

Brilliant. Never disappointed.

Alex Schultz

this is awesome... super happy to see it. GREAT JOB

Carl Johnson

Loved this first part. So many finds can't wait to see what day 2 and day 3 reveal.

Clive McIntyre

Sunday evening and Time Team. Wow! This is a wonderful treat and an echo of the TV days. Thank you, it is incredible to think we are a part of this in our small ways. Remarkable.

Valerie O' SULLIVAN

Absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much for this brilliant episode. A great way to end St. Patrick’s Weekend (a long weekend here in Ireland).

Lynn Edwards

Brilliant! Everything that Day One always had! Now always has! Looking forward to Days 2 and 3. Well done, Time Team.

Derek Thom

Well put together. Can't wait for the rest.

Nicholas & Elizabeth Dyer

An excellent first showing, now we have just got to wait patiently for next weekend. I think the week is going to drag.....

Larissa Spiker

I can't wait to see what the other two days bring! Will Stewart be proved right? Will they have gone to all this work for nothing? Will John have to buy *him* a drink? :)

Tamela Shepherd

Loving this! Can not wait to see the next episode!

Konstantin

Absolutely addictive. Great to see how Gus has ‘arrived’. Can’t wait for day 2!

Keith J Kelly

Wow! I'm loving the 3D rendering! On pins for day two!

Nina Gadsdon

All the best thrills and spills of a classic Time Team Day 1. Bring on Days 2 & 3!

the polish dude

I realley enjoy these episodes so much, thanks Time Team and especially Stuarts inspired vision of the whole area, Great going Stewart.

Mike Worsdale

I'm very much looking forward to day 2 and 3 , excellent work Time Team.

Loz

Absolutely fantastic! Fascinating stuff, told with great pacing, clarity and intensity. All of 'NewTime Team' has been really good, but it also feels like things are improving with each new episode too! Such a joy. Gus and the whole team doing an increasingly stellar job of presenting this all to us. Would love to see Natalie back with them too again one day!

Loz

Yeah, Gus is settling in wonderfully!

DOOBAT

Really like the virtual museum!

Marybeth Poleck

Very intriguing - looking forward to the premier! I like the virtual museum.

Anne Collinson

I loved this. What a treat. I can‘t wait to see the shows

Anthony Cavinaw

Holy Flaming Bat Guano. The virtual Visitation Docuem is incredible. Love Time Team. The technological advances have just taken it to a new level

Evelyn G Kimbrell

I think I'm channeling Stewart: I'm seeing lumps and bumps everywhere! Thank you, TimeTeam, for an excellent first day.

Charlotte Edmonds

:O No way! With the title of 'first look preview' I thought this was maybe an extended trailer - but it's the entire episode!!! Oh my goodness, this is so exciting! Right, now I'll get on and watch it 😄

Cathy Martichenko-Grilz

I can’t wait for the continuation! It is nice to see the community involvement and your buildings expert back with TT. I have always enjoyed their contributions over the years.

David king

Excellent can’t wait for the next episode

Don Gibson

Fantastic. Mick would be proud. It’s just like you’ve never been away.

K

Much much better Dr Gus! Who is the new TT artist? Will that be revealed over the next episodes? Beautiful work! Glad to see Mr Morris back... it's been quite a while! 😊 Matt taking Phil's role is fun to see after watching early episodes where Phil was mentoring Matt!

Keith Pritchard

Good start to the latest dig. Gus is starting to get into the hosting. Sounding more excited

Elisabeth Ricketts

I think I remember some hints that there was a real surprise later on in this dig…can’t wait!

K

Please continue bringing back past TT experts and hosts even if just joining to the team in the pub for a. visit! I think many of us would love to see Phil, Tony, Francis and others just hanging out having a pint or a coffee and watching the dig and chatting... perhaps reminiscing?

Andy Quick

Brilliant. I am hooked. As usual, great job by Emily and team in production.

Charlotte Edmonds

Oh my GOODNESS this was brilliant! Absolutely on tenterhooks for next week! I shall be rewatching many times whilst we wait. I have lots to say but will maybe save and refine it for next week so it's not an essay 😅 but so very impressed with this episode, it really feels much more 'Time Team' than last year's - bravo all round. Just one thing keeping it from being perfect: subtitles. The auto-generated ones are terrible. PLEASE can we have proper ones? It's an access issue, really important for people with any sort of need for them - deaf/HoH people, people with auditory processing difficulties, attention/cognitive difficulties, people for whom English is not their first language, anyone trying to watch whilst there's other noise around them, etc. I could go on but I'm sure you get the idea!

Leah Kotok

What fun! I love the mix of hi-tech and traditional methods for viewing and understanding the site. And I love seeing all my favorite Time Team crew members (old and new!).

SantaCruzCylon

This was really solid and so entertaining! Loving it! The production value and flow is great!

Eggs Ackley

Regarding John and Stewart, remember the implication of someone buying someone else an adult libation.🍺

Michael Sperry

This is magnificent! Quite the mystery and I'm looking forward to Days 2 and 3!

choklityum

Had to wait all day to watch this - other things going on - but it was worth the wait! Excellent episode and I'm very excited about seeing how the rest of the dig goes!

DIANA R NELSON

Great episode. So looking forward to the next installment. Gus is doing a great job with the context.

Robert Wise

Nice work …the suspense is building! And … it's nice to see something different from Roman leftovers!

Olivia McGerty

I absolutely love and adore Stewart’s enthusiasm and excitement!!! It totally infused mine also! I can hardly wait for more revelations.

Patricia Amero

I promise to keep this to myself 🤫 but OH. MY. GOD. what an amazing site. Thank you so much everyone for making this happen!!! 😍 (I'm off to watch it a 2nd time)

Patricia Amero

I'm in my 2nd yr... and like you I'm considering upping my level to get even more content... or buying a TT jacket, or maybe both!! 🥰

Patricia Amero

🙏 Thank you so much everyone at Time Team. It was worth the wait, and then some. 👍

Ian Macintosh

Great episode, well worth the wait. And I love the virtual museum concept - endless possibilities for a museum for every dig.

Andy Greaves

Fantastic day 1 can't wait for day 2 :-)

Lyle Walker

This is an intriguing dig, and I can't wait to the next instalment. It is good to see the team members are settling into their styles this second season. Matt is becoming the new "Phil": "So many targets, I think we should just get digging!" Hilda is always good value, bringing finds to the camera. Gus is more relaxed - good anchor, just different from Tony.

Kerry Hennigan

I loved this episode. Fantastic 1st day of the dig. And the virtual museum is fantastic. Very much looking forward to Days 2 and 3. 👍💖

Levy

Yay! Richard Morris is always a knowledgeable and level headed presence trying to reign in the wishful speculations of some others by pointing to what evidence they actually posses.Glad to see him.

Donna Oglesby

Was a great 1st day of this interesting and intriguing dig, of Stewarts. Was so nice to see Richard K. Norris again. Gus is starting to grow on me a bit as well, and getting more at ease, and not so dry, though I still miss Sir Tony. Amazing Gus pulls out a small piece of ruble that turns out to be a small drinking vessel from the spoil hep!

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Charlotte, thanks for feedback. We will be reviewing the captions ahead of the public premiere.

André Beuving

Goosebumps from the intro onward. The modern techniques and changes to the team could not prevent that you created a 100%+ TimeTeam episode. Thank you!!!

David Dearden

This brings time time up to a completely new level, The use of the 3D models to tell the storey was exception. Also who is the new artist?

JUDITH COOKE

That was utterly extraordinary. Seeing Stewart’s detailed diagram of a medieval preceptory in the first few minutes and then the archaeology almost leaping out of the ground was breathtaking. Wow and double wow! Lovely to see Richard Morris back, conjuring medieval features out of the woodwork before our eyes. As all the Team members began to do their thing the story came to life in the most vivid way imaginable. The graphics and technology allowed us to be fully immersed in the action from the outset. This was the most amazing experience. Congratulations and thanks to every single one of you. And it’s still only Day 1!

Peter K Miles

Great summary of the first day on what is clearly a very complex site, with finds from Roman to the 17th century. Don't hold back on the academic interpretations in an effort to be more 'folksy'.

Alana Tolstad

It's so pleasant to sit back & spend time with the team again!

Jenna Tomlin

That was awesome! Great first day.

Julian Elcock

Fantastic, it feels so much more natural than last years, the team clearly back in the swing of things... Really disappointed that I am working next Saturday so will miss ep2 as it goes out... Will just have to binge both on Sunday. I was lucky enough to be on site on Day 3, can't wait to see what more is found in the chapel!

Susan M Durston

Absolutely marvellous. I've got a very positive feeling that you'll find a lot of what you're seeking to find, as well as an unexpected surprise. This site makes me feel the identical way I did watching The Search for Richard III, and that was tremendous.

Ruth Coffin

Wow! A fantastic first day. I can't wait to see the rest of the dig.

Vernon Kelly

The production on this episode was truly first rate. A great improvement over season one. The only disappointment was it was too short.

Michael A Simms

Thank you for making all three sections inside a 3 day period!!

Toni Hunter

This is fantastic! I can’t wait to find out what else was uncovered, it’s wonderful to see so many interesting finds on day one. Thank you, you’re doing a great job! 😊

Coleen Wright

I'm so excited to see the next 2 days. Love seeing everybody back together again and new archeology techniques. Awesome job!!

Michael O'Connor

Am I the only one that thinks the best part was the digital manuscript? I look at these in my research, and love being able to see the whole pages in the programs. I always yelled at the producers for only showing parts in the past. Thanks TT!

Peg Warnock

I cannot wait!! I’ve chosen not to watch the preview because I don’t want to spoil the first episode at all. It’s hard not to but I want to see it all at once. ☺️

Brett W Walters

It is wonderful to see all the children, Mick must be smiling... 18:30 What guide is this and can we download a copy, and like Stewart I would like to read that too... I am so glad I became a Patreon, I thoroughly enjoyed this preview! Great Job TIME TEAM!!!

Brent Bossom

Bravo! This is was really excellent work and I can’t wait to see the rest of it. The storytelling is as compelling as in any of the original series programs, and the production values are high. The sound, the editing, the music, the drone shots. It is all there. I think it is amazing that this quality of programming can be produced in this way, especially for a subject that is, to be fair, quite niche. I’m grateful that everyone involved with this programme has the energy and drive to produce it, and glad that I had the opportunity to be a part of this. Thank you for all your hard work.

Steve Burgess

This was a great start back...can't wait for the 2 other episodes! Great job guys!

Chef Tess

Fantastic Day 1! Great episode, great story telling. Very informative. Looking forward to Part 2! And as someone already mentioned, it would be lovely to get a copy of that field archaeology guide!

Bob Arnold

That opening shot of Stewart underneath the tree was great! We're looking forward to the whole episode!

Bob Arnold

We've got three days to watch three episodes :-)

Rose Phoenix

Loving the virtual museum and the tech being used. It puts it into perspective!

Di

Wonderful enjoyed it Great work TT. Very excited & looking forward to see full episodes. Thank you Stewart for suggesting this very interesting site. The technology is awesome. At the beginning Matt sounds like he is channeling Phil!

Michelle Curiel

Absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to see Day 2. Love the virtual museum idea.

Roger Dyrøy

Fantastic interesting episode. Keep up the good work 👍

Robin Whitehead

Nice first day episode, the production values are settling down! Keep up the good work.

Janet Hay

Thank you for a fantastic episode with so much to cherish. Great to see Richard K Morris again with his informative observations. The new illustrator continues the great work of Victor Ambrus, and the virtual museum is a great development from the previous individual object recreations. The other advances in technology have been put to good use, but Stewart's proposal of the site, his stunning map, and involvement in the introduction have been the highlight of this dig for me. A couple of small suggestion for Emily. Chris mentions CBM in his description of the trench towards the end of the episode. I looked it up, and presume it means ceramic building material, but a caption would be helpful. Also, when a new trench is outlined over a feature, could the shading be slightly less opaque so we can still see the feature in it from the Geophys image? It seems to disappear under the shading, but I am watching on my phone so it may be clearer on a bigger screen. Thank you everyone for a great start to the new season.

Allison Payne

Thank you for this - fascinating content!

Chris Bate

Always interesting & always want more... Thank you guyz....

Michael Taylor

That was amazing. Thanks so much! The tempo seems more upbeat than in last year's episodes, a jolly good thing too

Tony Battles

Mumm's the word! Can't wait until Friday!

Rhino

Thanks for sharing. I much preferred the structure and production of this episode compared to last year’s. Its much more structured and focus like the old Time Team.

xSalty1

I feel likewise good stuff

Noblesse Oblige

Is the final ending question meant to sound like the two possible finds are mutually exclusive? The answer is obviously both, with the standard TT twist where there's another even older bit as well. Cut to group party raising drinks, roll credits. I love it when a plan comes together!

Brett W Walters

They just needed to re find their "footings".... ...they had been out production for a few years. You can feel that the confidence is back in the team, the behind the screen team as much as the stars.

Helen L Robinson

Day One and what a fabulous introduction to the Series 22: Knights Hospitaller! It was wonderful to see Richard Morris again and hear his thoughts as each new item is found. It's one thing for archaeologists to be able to say that a piece just unearthed is 13th century but for the viewer to actually understand where in time something comes from by using the timeline it allows us to see and understand the real age of the item and its place in the history of the site. I also thoroughly enjoyed all the new technology being the used, particularly the overlaying of both Stewart's great map and John Gators Geophys images on the actual landscape.

Constantijn Prijs

Absolutely fascinating 🧐 And great to see John and Stewart sparring over the location of the Great Hall

Kate

Watching this was like meeting an old friend who reminds you of some of the best times of your life - someone who influenced your growth. Emotionally warm and intellectually stimulating. Kids learning, cool technology, experts providing context and the always wonderful TT crew. Warm fuzzies all over.

Alex Pardoe

Day 1 was great, lovely to see the Team back in action! Thanks again to everyone involved and still really pleased to be able to support production through Patreon. Only one ask, and it’s nothing to do with the programme: could you please release these Patreon early access films at higher than 720p quality? The main YouTube publication is much higher quality. I can’t think of a reason why this wouldn’t be achievable unless there was a pressure to not do so? Thanks again, Tim and Team x

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Alex, we release the Patreon videos in the exact same resolution (HD 1080) as the videos on YouTube, so this may be something to do with the settings or browser you're viewing the Patreon content via. If the Patreon video is automatically playing in 720p, you should be able to click on the cog icon in the bottom right of the video to change the perspective to HD. We hope that fixes the issue, but if not, please drop us a personal message and we can take a closer look. Thanks

Alex Pardoe

Thanks for the tip, I’ve managed to work it out now. The Patreon early access content is on YouTube but only findable from the email, so I’ve been using my phone to play the film through the TV from the embedded content there. By opening in YouTube from the email embed, I’m not able to whack it up to 1080p and can now make out all the finer points of detail! Thanks again.

Justin T Donie

I just finished watching the Day 2 episode (watched Day 1 yesterday and rewatched this morning at 11:30am PDT before Day 2 aired at noon local time), and it's SO much fun to see the team in action again, and I'm really enjoying this site. So many layers to unpack, it's wonderful!! The mysterious brick and stone conjunction, the findings in the crypt, the evidence that the crypt might extend further ... Great stuff!! I also enjoyed a special personal treat on the Day 2 video around 17:20 of seeing my name on the Time Team sponsor wall flag for about a minute. This surprise made for a very special sense of connection to all that I'm seeing unfold. Time Team ..; it's just like nothing else. I also really enjoyed the segment on the Clarkes and Scribes for the Hospitallers, as my job today is along these lines, keeping detailed records of what goes on around my team's activities. So much to enjoy! My heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes possible this extraordinary group that is Time Team!

Celia Johnson

So happy with what I saw! You were showing us things aand discussing it. Exactly what we wanted. Great job!

Jim Keir

Feels much better made than last year's digs, well done!
