Guess who's back? Back again. Tony's back! Tell a friend... (Sorry, we couldn't resist.)

It has been an amazing eight days here in Aldbourne. A very special thanks to Richard Osgood, Operation Nightingale, all the serving personnel and veterans, volunteers, guests, event partners and people of the village who helped make it possible, and made us feel so welcome.

Not least, thanks to you all on Patreon for joining us on the journey and helping us to identify the finds. We've enjoyed bringing you closer to the action, and we'll be feeding back the experience and your comments into our future on-site updates.

There's still plenty more to come from our Band of Brothers dig, including some very special competitions, more photos, finds analysis, 3D models, and - of course - the documentary Special, featuring Sir Tony himself.

We'll be announcing more details on that programme and our other upcoming digs in due course, so stay with us for all the details.

The Dig Watch has been fantastic on this dig. Really felt more like a series of proper shorter episodes than anything. Props to everyone involved!

Karen Foley

Oh the hand waving and the voice. Welcome back Tony!

Kate Dillingham

I've enjoyed this series with Operation Nightingale very much. Love the history

Robert JE Simpson

Ahhh the tease! Cruel... so want to see how the last day went!

choklityum

And when will we get to see the docuspecial?

Mikael Larsson

Can't wait for the Time Team Special. I hope that it comes soon. Great to hear Tony again.

TimeTeamOfficial

It may be a little while, but full details to be announced in due course. In the meantime, we have a lot more activity on the way soon. Look out for upcoming announcements...

choklityum

I have my notifications on, so I always see announcements! I'll be waiting eagerly!

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi, we'll be sharing the final conclusion and other insights in the upcoming Special documentary at a later date. Full details TBA - in the meantime, we have more activity on the way, so please stay tuned. Thanks

Michael O'Connor

Tony hasn't missed a beat. Matt has been great, but it just "sounds" like Time Team with Tony narrating. Looking forward to the special.

Cheryl Kurucz

Matt is doing awesome and it is so wonderful to see Tony!!!😁😁😁

Tony Aston

great to see Tony on site, but when do we get to see Day 8?

Anne Collinson

I have loved every minute . Longing for more!

Jon Colcord

So I’m guessing Tony will be mostly the sound stage narration for the final product, and that all of his on-site contributions happened on the one (nice and sunny) day? I hope we at least get a nice “and we’ve got just 8 days to find out!” intro!

JUDITH COOKE

Hey! That was only three minutes! I agree with others, what really happened onsite on Day 8?

Doug Lucey

Loved the week or so's viewing of this dig. Time Team in the digital and online age is as brilliant as ever.

Elaine P

Only 3 minutes? Not fair! Absolutely loved these quick 10-min snapshots and very much looking forward to the finished special. Operation Nightingale is truly an estimable program. It was also quite touching to hear the actors and their thoughts about being in the series. I believe a rewatch of Band of Brothers is in order.

Linda Morris-Stetson

Great to see the “team” together with Tony. I live in California and have watched all of your shows. Sometimes twice or more. Keep it coming please. 👍🏼👍🏼

Gay Ludington

Oh, BOOOOO. I was so expecting 10 minutes or so as before. My husband and I are wondering where the missing seven minutes are. . . maybe tomorrow??

DIANA R NELSON

It's been wonderful seeing the day by day. Looking forward to the special.

Patricia Amero

I have enjoyed seeing every picture and bit of video, reading comments and feeling the camaraderie of all involved. I'd love to see another collaboration with Operation Nightingale in the future. Good to see you, Tony. The doc is gonna be a gooden 😎👍 cheers everyone!!

widget brittle

I've really enjoyed seeing this longer dig, it's a nice change of pace. And I thought handled really well with little spotlights of people here and there and what they were up to. I absolutely howled at Tony's parting line. Can't wait for the special!

Nathan Davey

From a 23 year US Army veteran, thank you for doing this series!

Chef Tess

That was just a tease!

Robert Wise

Praise rhe Lord … finally some humor!

Richard Stedall

Matt has proved himself to be an excellent presenter during this dig and I hope he is given the chance to do more of this in the future (if he wants to)

Kerry Hennigan

Tony's touch of humour is always a joy!

Dagmar Brugger

oh, I do love Tonys voice and way to represent!

nonzer0value

I don't think I can accurately describe how good this whole Dig Watch has made me feel. Corny humor coincident with experimental archaeology? Check. Absolutely *fascinating* glimpses into the past? Check. Pub scenes? Check! A thought I had when they were looking at that discarded, bent dog tag: It was like an outside glimpse into that soldier's memories. Made me smile wryly and think, "Well, it's good enough for government work I suppose." :)

Jeannette Rackliff

I know! When do we see the final day completely ?😞

JanD

Rewatched 'Band of Brothers' to give greater life to the finds, villagers' interactions, and actors' recollections. The beginning of the end but more to come in the special!

HB Murphy

What a great tease for an exciting special to come! I'm so glad you teamed up with Project Nightingale again. The first episode you did with them was absolutely moving and still one of my favorites. Matt did an excellent job presenting this series. Excited to see where Tony takes this!

Richard Hartman

The Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles has an intact Tar Paper Hut that was used at the Heart Mountain Detention Camp during World War 2.

Derek Barham

Brilliant dig watches. Can't wait for the Special

Di

On YouTube is a 1943 30 minute video for the US troops called "WW2 Training film for US soldiers -How to behave in Britain/ 1943". It is very interesting and funny. Similar to the pamphlet. I am looking forward to the special with Tony. Great job on this Dig. Thank you.

Bron Lloyd

Great job everyone. I really love Matt’s presentation style.

Dyana Mason

Can’t wait for the special!

Eelco Kruidenier

Tony is getting old. I hope he is alright. He sounded a bit weak. Looking forward to that special. And Matt again is a good presenter.

Peter Lee

Great to see Tony. It's like he was never away. So natural and cheeky. Thank you to everyone for supporting Time Team Patreon.

Julie Ball

Awww - just like old times

Elizabeth Neill

Gosh golly gee willikers, don't mean to gush, but it's great to see Tony.

Martin Kilner

So how long do we have to wait for the ‘Special’ ???… 🧐
