During our Winfarthing dig, we caught up with bone expert, Jackie McKinley to answer your questions.

In another wide ranging chat, we covered everything from Jackie's favourite track by New Model Army (the band) to the value of DNA and isotope analysis in Anglo-Saxon archaeology.

Speaking of which, the isotope analysis from the teeth discovered at Winfarthing is still ongoing, and we'll give you the full results once they're available.

Jackie, Tony and Tim

It's wonderful having Jackie back, and we'll be seeing much more of her soon!

We enjoyed another reunion recently as Jackie got together with Series Producer, Tim Taylor, and Sir Tony for a fascinating dicussion. Look out for this on the horizon.

As always, there are many exciting developments in the pipelines, as we gear up for the next chapter. Stay with us for all the news...

The sweet flow of evidence based research! Love Jackie's science and what it unravels.

Always fascinating to hear these folks discuss the process and resulting information that comes from it. I'm so happy to see Jackie on the job!

Another great chat, thank you, and thank you Jackie for being willing to take time for it. It is great to have her back. Just wish these could be longer (give an inch and i'll happily take a mile).

This was absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing this conversation. Very interesting to hear how more can be learned from accumulated DNA, in the future. Welcome back Jackie!

Nigel Bell

That was really lovely.

I'd forgotten about the 'cheese pizza base' comment. It is, I believe, to do with the Keto diet. Low carb, high fat is apparently the way forward...many GPs on board as a weight loss vehicle, & to reverse type 2 diabetes. They are re-writing, the now long held advice re fats & carbs. (rumour has it). But, nothing to do with this, I apologise for digressing in response to the last comment on this great video.

Oh fantastic, and thank you so much for asking my question and what a surprise to go along with the answer! Got to say 225 is one of my favourite songs of theirs too. The whole thing was a great interview.

How awesome is this then?? Like having a conversation with one of my favourite humans!

I remember Jackie fondly. She was always so knowledgeable in an approachable way. I love when she is on a dig.

I love it when Jackie is on a dig! I always learn something new. I work at a museum, and we were planning a new exhibition a few years ago. My boss wanted a section about human remains as sources for knowledge, and had planned to write it herself, but then she had a baby and was on maternity leave for a year. Well, my co-workers looked at me and said: "You can write that, right?" I thought to myself that all I knew about osteology was what I had learnt from Time Team... (But yes, I did write it...)

I always enjoy Deric and Lawrence’s incredible teamwork! Jackie as always is also incredible, she is the best teacher!
