Kieran Hutchings

Loved them all so fair, but the upcoming Modbury dig will be my favourite I am sure for the personal connection.

Zoe Propper

So hard to pick just one. My favourite is the AngloSaxon cemetery as this is the historical period I am most interested in. But the Roman Villa, the Iron Age Fogu, and the Knights Hospitaller Preceptory are all very close in joint second place.

Coral Pepper

I enjoyed learning more about this site

Jason Hoffman

All-time favorite has to be “Finds on the Fairway” (the Keel on the golf course on the Isle of Man.). Between the plait and the Ogham script stone, nothing else has come close.

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Justin, we haven't quite hit the target yet, but we're getting close! Patreon has recently updated the look of the platform to include all who have registered interest, not just paid members. Our current paid members count is 9,307. (We're working on making this distinction more visible on the page.) Fingers-crossed, we're on course to hit the magic 10,000 by the end of the year.

Richard Moss

How do you pick your favourite child?!!! Loved them all. I did go for the Anglo Saxon cemetery, both in terms of the site, but also the programme which was the best-executed. But the Band of Brothers was a close second because of the human stories - both in the archaeology but also the veterans working on the site. They're all winners though.

David Molineux Smith

It's so nice to see mat has been promoted ilike àll economic History progs iron making but philosophy pump handling is awful prime before you pump. Also pig iron is ignored David molineux Smith

Derek Murray

All are wonderful but WW2 and the Band of Brothers is a particular interest. Thank you Time Team.

John A MacPherson

Loved the Anglo-Saxon cemetery the best! Lots of Helen and Stewart, my two favorite Time Team crew members!

Wolfgang Zenker

A difficult choice. I selected the Winfarthing dig, but the Halston dig and the sarcophagus revisit in Broughton are very close seconds. All of the digs were good of course, and the eternal winner is as always "the next one".

James Hickman

As a Norfolk resident I am afraid local loyalties told. We are so blessed with Anglo-Saxon sites and potential sites round here. All time favourite is Bawsey near Kings Lynn. Such a fascinating history.

Matthew Adams

It's very difficult to choose - I have picked the Anglo Saxon Cemetery because it is a period that particularly interests me. But I think the Band of Brothers dig was the best Time Team - as much as I like Gus, I'm not keen on the "breathy wonderment" tone of voice and I thought the more straightforward presentation was 100% more Time Team.

Jude Drake

I love them all. I really love the new team, the interactions are kind and respectful. Dr. Gus is calm and knowledgeable, asking pertinent questions.

Lynn Edwards

Favourite new dig has to be Winfarthing. And then… There’s Brancaster, Groby, Speke Keeil, and don’t forget that episode in series 11 where a hypocaust was built and Phil tested it with a pointed toe…

Le Scoob

It’s difficult to find the words to describe how happy I am to have the show back. Like your best friend moving back from overseas after a very long time.

Jon Colcord

As a former member of the 101st myself, I had to pick ‘Digging Band of Brothers’! It even inspired me to go back and rewatch my entire BoB DVD set! My second pick would be the community-involved one with all of the test pits. Which one was that? I always love the community part.

Christian Späth

Hard to pick one, because all of them were great. I picked the Roman Villa, because it is a subject of special interest for me.

Jakub Jůzl

Dig Watch for 'Digging Band of Brothers' was awesome - to be honest, I enjoyed it more than the actual episode. Otherwise, it's the anglo saxon cemetery for me, that one was an instant hit.

Richard Cox

Anything Roman for me. I was fortunate to live near and see the Roman mosaics at Woodchester

Anne Dexter

Though I chose the Roman Villa I really enjoyed Digging Band of Brothers. They are all great and it’s difficult to choose 👍

Carl Thorpe

Boden, but there again I'm Biased as I'm in it :)

Andrew P

Bone cave was my favourite by far, a pity that this was not in the list.

Peter Jörgensen

We chose "Digging Band of Brothers " because Corinne's father was in a similar situation in WW2 in the Army Air Force where he met and married her mother who already had two children. The Winfarthing Lady was pretty spectacular, and the fogou was really unique.

Mags Hobby

Loved them all. I chose the Norfolk one as nearest to home! I definitely enjoyed the Band of Brothers much more than I expected to.

kevin vermeulen

Happy with all of them, but my top three - Anglo cemetery, Band of Brothers, and Fogou... Again, all of them are good.

John Lewton

I liked them all, of course, but I especially liked the Anglo Saxon cemetery, because all the archaeologists I know also seem a bit bewildered.

Ward

I've enjoyed Roman digs but there are so many. The older Iron Age dig offered more mystery.

indiegrrrl

The fraud one was crazy. How is that not on the list?

Elise Norwood

I’d choose them all! The new Time Team is brilliant.

Julian Elcock

Slightly biased because I went on set for the Knights Hospitalers dig so that has to be no1, after that I think the Roman Villa and then the Fogou... Definitely one for the older sites, post 1800 doesn't float my boat.

Ruth Ann Copley

I have enjoyed them all. But the Roman villa stands out as the first new Time Team where the new and old team members started to mesh. You could see how great this new production and partnership was going to be.

Jessicka Catherine

Anglo Saxon, iron age fogou, Roman villa. Classic time team greatness. The Anglo Saxon/fogou was a tough call! I'm more interested in ancient history than the more modern stuff.

MaryKaye Snell

I agree, Julian, that my favorite UK digs are also post 1800. However, here’s a thought: as an American Time Team fan, a dig related to Indigenous or Enslaved North American (even colonial!) sites would be of great interest.

Simone Fritzen

I have a soft spot for roman villas, I love it, when you find mosaic.

Andrew Lamb

Love the Anglo Saxon sites… the hardest to see, but the best results in terms of grave goods ….

Martha Berryman

Th new Tech of Revived Time Team is awesome, so I am eager to those Digs & Discoveries. But it is the Classic Time Team broadcasts I miss, es

Julian Back

I have to vote for the fogou as I took part in that one. For me the pre-Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods are the most interesting.

Ken Durbin

As an American I had to go with Band of Brothers.

Giles Langley

I have always been fascinated by the Anglo Saxons, but I found it very difficult to choose between any of the digs really.

Martha Berryman

I do miss the electric and convivial group our late Prof. Aston, Sir Tony, Prof. Phil, the interchanges with JSB's late Prof. Ian Barclay & Dr. Ian Powlesland. So I'm very glad to still find Dr. Mathew, Dr. Geake, Prof. Carenza, Dr. John, Prof. Ainsworth. The new team presenters are most enjoyable, but not quite the lively interactions of all those quibbles and humor since 1994-2024. Thank you Prof. Taylor for assembling this NEW and group, and NEW excavations. I particularly like your focus on ancient communities--potential interaction with Modern Communities, and the revelations of Stone, Bronze, Iron,, Neoloithic and Vicu,s sites

Eggs Ackley

Tough call since they have all been thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening. However, I am a WWII history buff with a particular interest in U.K./Dominion operations (oddly, for an American) so the Band of Brothers special got my vote. Crack on, Richard Osgood, et al.👍🫡

Lou Nathaniels

as much as I enjoy WWII History I could not warm up to the 'Band of Brothers' dig. Seems wrong somehow with all there is otherwise to dig in living memory.

Eggs Ackley

Point well taken! As long as TT is digging anything I will be happy. I do so hope TT links up with Waterloo Uncovered sometime soon.

Steve Mikre

I would love to one day see Time Team dig a location on the Great War Western Front...

Martha Berryman

More than the Exquisite Episodes, ALL of them, is how Time Team research REVEALS how skilled, sophisticated, active community social life were the ANCIENT ANCESTORS we Modern Humans so often dismiss as "primitive" . Time Team shows us that the Neolitics, etc. may have enjoyed more communal ways of living, good food, good cheer, and clearly abundant familial bonds we Moderns have totally lost, dismissed. THANK YOU!!!!

Lou Nathaniels

I understand. Over the years I have come to enjoy the byplay between smart dedicated people as much or more than the 'finds'. (even when watching an old one some theory turned out to be a howler!)...

Lou Nathaniels

YES flesh out the hearts and minds on the bones!

Lou Nathaniels

Waterloo seems to have been serially neglected. Possibly for my reason above? BUT tie has run to it. Also some of the community of pros seem to hate anything involved with gunpowder. Just seems anyway.

Louise Bannister

I love the ancient site digs, Roman, Iron Age and medieval. Your archeology is very different to ours here in Oz.😊🗡️⚱️🪙

Mike Darby

Although it is brilliant to be immersed in archaeology again with the return of Time Team, I must comment on my favourite dig of all, having rewatched all episodes at least twice. I know that TT has made many magnificent finds, with many 1sts, to my mind Turkdean 1&2 stands out, in particular the refinding of the Roman water system in No. 2, with water that had been flowing undisturbed for over a thousand year. Bearing in mind how crowded our small island is, with quite intensive agricultural use of the contryside, it's continued working existance is jaw dropping, and makes you wonder what else lies beneath our feet, as yet unfound.

Wessex-Wyvern

All of them v interesting. However, I chose Knights Hospitaller preceptory as the "answer" was more elusive than most others

JUDITH COOKE

Difficult to choose, every episode builds on the preceding ones and they keep getting better and better. I just love having Time Team back and digging.

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Tressa, the list in the poll is for our recent digs since Time Team's return, but we love to hear about favourites from the past too!

Andy Gabriel-Powell

Almost cruel to make us choose, lol. Loved almost every dig and looking forward to seeing more. But I do wonder if Phil Harding might be persuaded to make perhaps a guest appearance especially if the dig involves stone age flint.

Hunt

With the exception of the Band of Brothers, which I wasn't interested in, they have all been fantastic. The Anglo-Saxon cemetery slightly edges ahead because the results significantly exceeded expectations and it felt like a genuine discovery of new knowledge.

James Matney

As a VET myself. And the SON of ww2 Military parent anything to do with where we and want we did is in my wheel house.

Alex Gregory

All were great but had to go for the Band of Brothers dig as Sir Tony returned. No offence meant for Gus but it’s just not the same without Tony. I find Gus a bit sleepy at times. Tony always kept you on your feet.

Freda Bradley

I loved Band of Brothers. As a historian of the World Wars Home Fronts, I particularly liked how the local population was affected.

Joanne Kellam

When interpreting the results, just remember that even though I (and likely many others) picked a favorite, that does not mean that I did not love them all!

Tamra Prior

Hard to choose! Fogous are also awesome but I had to go with the Anglo-Saxon. I'm a medieval reenactor with a widespread group that does lots of eras and thanks to TT I'm now working on an Anglo-Saxon outfit. Thanks for the new rabbithole!

Barbara Keyser

The first Project Nightgale on the old series is my absolute favorite of all the time team episodes. Was thrilled to bits to see you working with them again on the Band of Brothers & the added interest of the American participation - I live in Virigina in the USA - watch all the episodes in rotation & never fail to learn something new - thanks !

David Dryburgh

While I love the TT's work, I found the Band of Brothers totally disinteresting

Elizabeth Neill

I agree with Barbara; I never fail to learn something new, whether I'm watching a new dig or a rerun. I love the idea of Project Nightingale; it's a wonderful program and I'm so glad that Time Team has supported it and publicized it as well as celebrating it and entertaining us with it, and it very wonderful that Tony hosted the special. I loved the fogou in Cornwall as well, because I thought it served as a fabulous bookend to the earlier Fogou episode in, I think, the third Time Team season. For one thing, the higher prevalence of fogous in Ireland seems to show that culture has not just flowed westward but eastward as well. But as an experience, watching the Anglo-Saxon dig was the most fun for me. I enjoyed Gus's excitement at encountering Anglo-Saxon bling; I appreciated Helen explaining that continental influences, including Nordic, are perceived in Anglo-Saxon art, including the bling (I've since learned that this is also how the visual art of the Lindisfarne Gospel is viewed). In part, this is because I watched "Britain A.D." with Francis Pryor and I found it fascinating. I had very much hoped that the Anglo-Saxon dig would come up with some evidence to support Pryor's assertions in that series of programs and I believe it did: by finding remains of a supposed nearby Roman temple, and by tracking the development of the nearby village. When Carenza came up at the end and said that the results of the test-pitting showed that the site and the surrounding area had been continuously inhabited (offering plenty of "context" for the site, which I really appreciated), I felt that conclusion did support Pryor's argument. All of that was important to me and deeply satisfying. I view all of the new episodes as successes; I liked Winfarthing the best.

Trisha

Enjoying the new digs but I miss Phil - his sheer delight in a well dug trench.

Bede Browne

Exactly Trisha, where is Phil Harding? Has he been 'shelved' for later use. Anyway I enjoyed the Iron Age Fogou because it was totally different & opened my eyes to something new. Keep up the good work Time Team.

Michelle Curiel

the Anglo Saxon Cemetery and Digging Band of Brothers were my other two favorites. I also learned a lot from the Iron Age Fogou. Keep them coming!

Leah Kotok

1. Anglo-Saxon - I may have been onsite for this, so it's special to me, but I also thought it was put together really well as an episode. 2. Roman Sarcophagus - I always want to know what more is learned after the dig ends or if more research is done. This was so great to have a follow-up at a site. I'd LOVE to have more episodes (perhaps like the TT News) that follow up on previous TT digs. 3. Roman Villa - it was just such a huge, interesting site. And all the 3D/VR renderings were really cool. I love what Project Nightingale does, but I am totally uninterested in recent history, so didn't really care for the Band of Brothers dig. It'd be great if PN could be involved again in the future with TT but on an ancient site.

Kay Theriault

Must I choose one?! I love them all!

Mark GB

Roman, because I like the metal detector finds

Robert Shaw

I like them all. So happy you’re back.😀

Bethanny Allain

I liked the Roman Villa, The Band of Brothers and The Anglo-Saxon Cemetery too. Actually, I like all the digs going back to the beginning of the series. I recently discovered Time Team on YouTube. I have also joined Patreon. Keep up all the exciting wonderful work.

Jen A

1. Anglo-Saxon Cemetery - I enjoyed learning more about the mysterious lady buried there, with her unique, beautiful pendant and bronze bowl. Learning about the flowers that adorned her, and how they pinpointed the season of her burial, were very special highlights. 2. Roman villa - The extraordinary landscape revealed, with its ponds and terraces…I loved it. I wish more was uncovered about the structure by the water though. But, of course, I enjoyed all of the new episodes so far!

Betty Nichols

Really, just too many to narrow the choice down.

david allison

Paul Klipsch Spitfire dig France back in 2000, mainly due to being an Battlefield guide/Historian.

david allison

Apart from that anything Anglo-Saxon/Viking or older than yesterdays newspaper.

david allison

I own the medals and research to Lt George Archer-Shee who was the real Winslow Boy, killed in Action Ypres, Belgium October 1914 and listed on the Menin gate memorial to the missing Ypres. I have often wondered if Time Team would be interested in the story.

Chrina Jarvis

Extremely difficult to choose between them - they have all been excellent in their very different ways!!

Books by Hal Grey

I find it interesting that reading the comments, many seem to not understand the question. I voted for the Knights dig, for a few reasons, most of the others answered questions, but with the Knights dig, many of the team felt more work was needed. If we look at areas of history to explore the period of the Three Knights orders still leave many questions (templer, tutonic, hospitalier).

Gary S

Very difficult - but just very glad that Time Team is back...happy days!

James Smith

The Anglo-Saxon cemetery dig had a great feel about it, real excitement and great results. Helen was on top form and so emotionally involved it brought a tear to my eye as it did to hers!

Matthew Hauck

Very difficult to choose a favorite.

Donna Oglesby

anything anglo saxon or viking always has my interest. something aobut finding bones, and after digging them up, be able to find out so much more aobut the person, intriges me. just wish there was a way to set up an international DNA data base for all those doing and researching genealogy. that alone would be such an swesome help to so many.

Katy Brown

Easy to say Anglo-Saxon Cemetery, because Helen Geake and Mick infected me with an obsession for hat time period.

Julianne Ture

Random shot-in-the-dark question: I remember a scene from the original series where the team were talking over dinner and Carenza had her infant daughter with her… but I can’t remember which episode it was! Any help?

Patricia Amero

My 1st choice is Helen's excellent A-S Cemetery but 2nd is the Fogou bc so few have been excavated by TT & very little is known (so many theories as to 'why') and 3rd is the Sarcophagus bc it answered so many questions I had about the lady and that burial practice. 🙏 ALL the choices are phenomenal.

Andy Quick

I think I will enjoy the Modbury test pit dig, should it be released. All the episodes have been great.

Arlene Dowd

I loved the Digging Band of Brothers. I think involving veterans in the digs is phenomenal. I also like episodes with Carrenza, she's so knowledge and it's great to see how much she loves her work

Dan Southall

So many choices. I personally am fascinated by the Roman period in England so they always win out

Peter T

The Roman Villa dig was a very close second to my vote for band of brothers.

Lyle Walker

I loved the Digging BoB, because there was such interesting social history provided by the manuscript, and of locals. But for the top traditional digs I would rate Anglo Saxon cemetery and Roman Villa as most intriguing.

Macswell

Cemetery digs are always fascinating in that (to me at least) they generate more questions (and speculation) than answers. Along that line, an easy second would be the Roman Sarcophagus.

Shannon Wells

I picked the fogou because I feel like we already know significantly more about the other periods, especially Roman and post-Conquest. Also I'm very interested in the pre-Christian, pre-Roman eras.

Brett W Walters

The Anglo-Saxon Cemetery, it's in my DNA, the Roman digs are always interesting...

Charlotte Edmonds

I have to go for the Anglo-Saxon dig at Winfarthing, but the Knights Hospitallers dig is a very, VERY close second.

Kerry Hennigan

The Anglo-Saxon Cemetery, then Band of Brothers, although it could just as easily be the other way around. However, I've loved every one of the new episodes and have watched all of them multiple times. The Dig Watch videos and the monthly News videos are also great. Keep up the fantastic work!

James Smith

It was tough to choose, but the Anglo-Saxon cemetery (Helen’s excitement!) just edged it over the Band of Bothers and the Sarcophagus. I’ve enjoyed all of them though.

John Hughes

I agree it was tough to pick one. It would have made it easier (for me) if Broughton villa and the Broughton sarcophagus were part of the same choice. All the digs are so wonderful.

LezleeDee

Tough to pick one! I loved the iron age fogou! And I loved the anglo saxon burial. I’d love to see more neolithic and bronze age excavations, but I’m so excited that Time Team is back that I’m happy with all of it!

Rubys Rose

I love so many of the spectacular finds digs, yet it is the healing words and messages of the traumatized War veterans that endears my heart. I suffered my dad and mum's traumas as a result sensitizing me to these courageous souls. Where I was conflicted in past years about Remembrance Day I realize in the 2023 globalist war monger criminals, out to steal, profit from and destroy all that is natural, God gifted/Creator provided & ancient Homo Sapien Sapien thriving life forms. The veterans all did what we all want -defend our culture, country, human rights & dignity, protect families, people and homes for the goodness of all. That is no longer evident in almost all the corporate Extinctionists today, coined/word smithing/name & speak out loud all of what we know... Dr Jordan Peterson and Alliance for Responsible Citizenship.

doublespiraller

I probably enjoyed watching the Anglo-Saxon Cemetery dig in Winfarthing most overall but the Roman Villa in Broughton perhaps had more individually memorable moments and Stewart Ainsworth's persistent pursuit of the water management system was admirable (especially as I understand it's an under researched area, even if it's not as spectacular as the high status burials that featured in both digs).
