With the end of the year approaching, Naomi and Dani will be catching up for one of their much-loved chats to reflect on 2023. Expect festive themes, unique insights and plenty of banter.

We couldn't let the occasion pass without some of your questions, so what would you like to ask them?

Please let us know in the comments, and we'll try to get through as many as we can!

Kerry Hennigan

I'd like to ask both of them their most surprising/unexpected finds of the past year.

JUDITH COOKE

Wishing Dani and Naomi the compliments of the season, I’d like to know what they are most looking forward to in 2024.

Emma R

Completely not Time Team related, just a conversation happening with me and my pals right now, What is your ideal Christmas dinner and drink (alcaholic or non, your choice)? I really like honey roast Parsnips with mine, but I appear to be alone in this LOL.

W Pierce

I'd ask both (and original members of T.T.) what time period (and where) they'd most like to 'visit', if they could go back in time for a short stay. As experts in their specialty, it would be fun hearing if they have a favorite historical era.

Naomi and Dani, when did your curiosity and love of things past begin? You are both beautiful and intelligent women. Wishing you love and joy this holiday season, and looking forward to much more Time Team in 2024.

Andrew Calderwood

Why do you think so much was lost, in terms of architecture and technological advancement (plumbing/heating/concrete), as Briton transitioned from its Roman period to the Anglo-Saxon period? Have a great holiday season! 😊❤️

Margo Lynn

Biscuits and tea, or beer? More seriously, do you ever work under lights due to the time constraint of a three-day dig, or any other dig, to get as much done as possible?

Lynn Edwards

2 questions for Naomi... 1) Was the Time Team special "Steel City" the first time you were on Time Team? 2) I have a memory of Naomi, wearing a blindfold, identifying bones by touch... Could be a long time ago, now, but... Naomi, can you still do this?

Lynn Edwards

Question for Dani What was your first time on Time Team?

Alan McMillan

Good luck with digs, and merry Xmas!

Michael Sperry

Question for Naomi: What was the most unexpected find you've run across in your float process?

Steve Mikre

Can Dani or Naomi go grocery shopping without autograph seekers and/or the paparazzi harassing them? 🤔

the polish dude

I often wonder if Phil was asked to rejoin the team. I respect his privacy but miss him just the same.

Terri Brown

My best to both of you brilliant and lovely ladies and Seasons Greetings as well. This may have already been asked and if so, please forgive the redundancy, but what ignited the spark in you that led you to where you are today please? For me, for example, it was visiting Yellowstone in Winter that led to my love of geology. Thank you for your time.

Philip Christiansen

Outside of Time Team, what are your number one most interesting sites that you have worked on over the years? And a Happy Holiday's to you and everyone else at Time Team!

Jenna Leigh-Thompson

Naomi, what gauge mesh do use in your flotation tank, do you run two screens and are there any advantages or disadvantages with different grade mesh.. oh and do you prefer nylon or poly?

Joanne Kellam

Question for both - what do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Archaeology-related or totally not related? Assuming Time Team does not take up 100% of your time of course!

Frank Pellow

Question for both - If there was a Time Team movie, who would you like to play you?

David Cadogan-Cowper

Question for either: Who of the time team crew is the funniest to work with, and why?

Martha Berryman

In some Modern Cultures (Africa) the soil is not plowed. Seeds are planted by poking holes in the earth, not disturbing the micro-biome. When and Why did our Ancient Ancestors come up with the idea of complicated plowing--blades, oxen, harnesses, etc. to "turn over the soil" and later the deep plowing "Ridge & Furrow." Modern agriculturalists no longer recommend the "French double turning soil" gardens. Now we know that Trees and Plants "talk to each other" through that micro-biome, what do you think the Neolithic etc. cultures were thinking about plowing.

Books by Hal Grey

A Question for both, if you were to pick another career path away from Archeology, what would you have liked to try. Of course wishing the whole team season's greetings and a prosperous new year

Bob Kingsmill

Just one question: Where's Phil? It just isn't the same without him.

Robert Theunissen

Naomi and Dani, big question ... and one I find I ask myself a lot... what is it about the past and the archaeological window view into it that you find important for your lives and humanity in general today? Why do you think it "matters"? I love the obvious enthusiasm you and the team both have for archaeology and its related branches just wondering if you ever reflect on what drives you. Cheers robert

Patricia Amero

I was about to ask that same question...

Pauline Guest

Question for both: What was the highlight of this past year for you and what are you looking forward to in the new year?

Leanne

For both: When working on a site, and related to your area of expertise, what makes you most excited when you find it?

Roger Lundgren

Dani and Naomi, wpuld you both tell us how you got into Archaeology? At what age did you discover your interest in it? Thanks!

Alan Murdock

Naomi, since the flotation stuff can add more to the story of a site. How do you feel about sites where this was not done or thought of? What are some excavations where you really wish it had been done?

Richard Seaton

For Dani and Naomi...which is your favourite dig from 2022/2023?

Martha Berryman

On recent WAPO about Neanderthal DNA and circadian DNA, passed on to current generations, as well as an earlier HISTORY.BBC documentary about Neanderthals, the re-created images of the people portrayed them with chaotic hair, and very dirty fingernails. This seems be a "knee-jerk" negative stereotype, especially as Time Team has found countless elaborate combs and other small tools for cleaning fingernails and extracting earwax. Please use your academic & professional status to challenge such imagery--again, that plays into the idea of Modern Humans as having higher status.

Martha Berryman

Time Team has found and revealed history of Neanderthal cultures in many ways that challenge Modern Man's condescension that our Ancient Ancestors were dirty and unkept. Recent article from WAPO on Neanderthal DNA circadian cycles, and an earlier BBC history documentary both portrayed the Neanderthal re-creations with unkept hair and dirty hands, fingernails. The countless Combs and other small tools for cleaning nails and ears, tweezers, etc. that your Teams have found challenge this Modern Humans' arrogance. Please use your academic and professional experience to publicly challenge such negative stereotypes and the ensuing assumption we Moderns are so much better? Praise to you all, Martha

Andy Quick

Thanks for your great work on Time Team Naomi and Dani. If you could go anywhere in the world for an archaeological dig, where would it be? (You would be most welcome in Canada :-)

Jakub Jůzl

Possibly for both - you have a lot of experience with being on camera, but I wonder whether you still find it stressful? I always get stage fright as a speaker and I imagine it can be similar filming a show. Any secret tips to alleviate the anxiety? :)

Mina Shehee

Both: What part or parts of the archaeological process do you like doing the best?

Dorothy Africa

Naomi, have you often found foxglove as part of a burial? I know it is high in digitalis, but the dead are not liable to be excitable, so why would the Anglo-Saxons use it as a burial item?

Dorothy Africa

Naomi, have you found foxglove before in burials? it is high in digitalis, but the dead are not likely to need stimulation, so why should it have been included in the burial of the Anglo-Saxon lady? Just as a medical element?

Matt Bear Clark

If we could return to / revisit a classic Time Team location, with today’s technology and team of specialists, where do you think would benefit from the advancements?
