Your chat is wrong about this being any bit canon, btw! This movie was originally supposed to be the actual final movie. Because it was looking like Gintama wasn't going to get renewed for good. The running gag of "This show will get canceled." And "Final episodes" was very real. I have been watching Gintama since 2008 and we never thought we would get anything past this movie. That's why alot of the OG fans read the manga as well. It was the only way we could consistently get more Gintama. Long story short: not the final movie, not canon at all.

No. It is not canon. This movie was originally a final movie. Because the anime wasn't meant to continue. When the anime got renewed this became just a movie, not canon to the story. You are wrong, and that's okay.

But that was the whole point of the reset at the end of the movie - so that it could be canon without disturbing the story. I mean, it's not manga canon, true. But it's anime canon. The anime treats its fillers as anime canon too, as well as the anime-only jokes. And this movie is canon in the anime, it didn't just stop being canon because the anime continued.

It must be nice to be so wrong so blatantly. Listen. I have watched and read this anime over 10 times back to back. It was never mentioned in the anime after this. It isn't canon and it is incredibly silly for you to keep fighting with me about it.
