Don’t let those big sparkly eyes and adorable little paws fool you. The purrmafrost is among the deadliest predators ever recorded. Those cutesy traits make it a ruthless predator, and once it starts stalking its prey, there’s no escape. This sweet kitty has a ninety-nine percent success rate, even if most of those kills are snow moths.

Illusion Hunters. Most prey never catch a glimpse of their feline assailant, as the purrmafrost uses its frosty coat to stir up a fog as soon as a meal is in sight. The fearsome hunter crouches low in the fog while projecting the illusion of a weak, helpless kitten—the perfect snack for a cold, hungry beast. The unwary prey follows the illusion as it limps directly into a freezing trap.

Best Served Cold. Beyond the cover it provides, a purrmafrost’s fog leaves a layer of moisture on everything it touches, soaking into clothes, skin, fur, and hair. This dampness is key to the purrmafrost’s secret weapon. Its breath weapon isn’t much on its own, but adding a bit of water to the mix can freeze creatures solid in an instant. This leaves the purrmafrost free to make a killing blow against the newly frozen ice sculpture and drag its prize back to its den for a victory feast.

Lethally Cute. When the purrmafrost was discovered, trappers brought it back to sell as a cute and exotic pet. The frosty kitties were banned in every major city within the year, as neighbours complained about missing cats, dogs, livestock, and horses. The reports all shared the same calling card: a splatter of blood and the cold dew of a wintry mist.
