So barn finds are kindof like the DIY'ers version of tat. Mostly an american thing though it does show up on this side of the pond as well -- basically, furniture or tools which were in someone's barn for years, then they either decided to clean out the barn or they died and their descendants decided to clean out the barn. Usually either left for free at the side of the road (in the US, we fine people for that here) or sold for pennies on auction sites or gumtree or something similar or boot sales or estate sales or the like. I think the "I brake for barn finds" line would be mainly american though, where you could see the finds in question on the side of the road (which seems to be their social signal for "this is free if you want it, otherwise it's getting picked up in the rubbish and taken to the landfill". Finding and restoring them is a hobby for a lot of woodworkers and DIY types in the US and here (on this side of the pond it seems to be mostly tools because they're smaller so you can find them in car boot sales, and most woodworking tools made in the UK in the last two centuries can be restored to a perfectly working condition and are as good or better than the modern equivalent due to very geeky historical reasons having to do with the history of industrial woodworking and how it differed between the US and UK). TL;DR - think "DIY tat" :D

Thanks Stuart, I can see how that extra sticker wasn't suitable on many levels lol.
