Zzt. Clank. Whirr.

Insight Function: [ACTIVE]

It's not an easy thing, killing one of your main characters, especially when they are one half of a romance; and in the case of the "Bury Your Gays" trope that is so rampant in most mainstream media, Eormenhild's fate hurts twice as much.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

We knew the whole story going in (since it is an adaptation), which meant that the end of the Elf-Knight's journey was immediately set in stone. Our genderbending created Eormenhild, and in turn changed the original theme of the tale (making it queer), but I was adamant about keeping her fate intact... with a small alteration: she would embrace it.

An Elf-Knight is an assassin of sorts, tasked with safekeeping Elven traditions and committing a myriad of acts meant to uplift the Elven people. Eormenhild was given a mission:

"Assassinate the Heirs of the Human-Kingdoms, and plunge their People in despair."

Some of our previous illustrations hints at a troublesome background, and even Eormenhild's stoicism in the comic implies it all the same: Eormehild has slain princesses before.

Which begs the question: what changed with Wynnflaed?

Learn about it next week... 😉
