Greetings from the Reincarnatum, everyone!
We are back with one final worldbuilding special about Androids Who Dream. If your insides still yearn for more knowledge and wickedry, look no further: we got you.
What Race and Class would the Androids Who Dream trio be, if they were magically whisked into the world of D&D 5e?
A wonderful question.
Buzzard is a tough one. He is simple enough in his motives and wants that he would probably be a Human, possibly even Variant Human, with an extra starting feat: Mobile. In more exotic interpretations however, he'd probably be a Lizardfolk, although he would insist on being a Tiefling.
As for class(es), Buzz would probably end up as a multiclass: Arcane Trickster Rogue and Artillerist Artificer. Definitely not a min-maxer, but definitely a nuisance.
Stytch is beyond a margin of a doubt a Wizard. Technomancy is in itself, deep down, magick, so it would make sense she would take the mantle of a squishy Wizard. As for which School she'd pick, Abjuration or Transmutation are closest to most of her magicks showcased in Androids Who Dream; although, Evocation could be a choice...
Funnily enough, when it comes to Race, Stytch is an outlier: her closet furry would make her a Tabaxi or Yuan-Ti. Or a less-exotic choice would be Half-Elf, thanks to her bionics.
RIXA is a shoe-in for Warforged. A sentient construct is very close to an Android, however, other interpretations could turn her into a Goliath or the less-exotic Half-Orc.
Class-wise, RIXA would make for a dope Berserker Barbarian at the moment, or possibly, in Fuck, Reboot, Kill, we'd be looking at a more Oath of Vengeance Paladin. The ease with which she lets her emotions take over, predominantly hatred and anger, would balance both of those classes in very... interesting ways. Especially for friendly-fire.
What is the name of the city featured in the second-half of Androids Who Dream? What's its story?
New Piersan is one of the largest cities in the Western Dust Bowl region.
Originally a coastal company-town built for an oil-rig operation, Piersan was left practically abandoned after the autopolis-led nuclear war. Whatever corporations and billionaires greedily survived it, decided to invest in the region, and eventually (and violently) pushed back the scavenger communities based in Piersan. Renamed to New Piersan, it then boomed as a major tech-hub, with Loskova Solutions, featured in Love & Circuitry, leading the race. High-End commercial and residential areas were soon solely owned by corpos, with any semblance of governmental or charitable bodies being relegated to the slums and lower 'hoods. Stytch's compound is located on the distant outskirts of this city as well.
The city has remained relatively chaotic, with plenty of factions vying for control of the streets under the entertained gaze of rich-(p)syc(h)ophants.
New Piersan is the Wild Cyber-West.
Who are The Rotten Resistance?
Initially, the Rotten Resistance was RIXA's techno-punk band.
They weren't very good, but they stirred something in people. Namely in other Androids.
Little by little, both 'droids and humans flocked towards the band; using their songs as pirate radio anthems and their merch as rebellion uniforms. When the band imploded thanks to RIXA's rockstar ego, its name outlived it all. This presence meant that the "organisation" had to be de-centralised, lest their disruptive operations be foiled before carried on. Keen on more attention, RIXA remained at the forefront of the movement and was essentially erected as its figurehead.
Within a couple of months of her first public appearance as their leader, she was killed.
I hope you enjoyed all of the little lore tidbits about Androids Who Dream! Along with all the great content we've been sharing this week. ;3
