WITH EYES OF GLASS: Detective Kelsall Tredgold Concept Art (Patreon)

We're back with another concept look at With Eyes of Glass, this time, Detective Locke's partner... Detective Kelsall Tredgold. Box did an incredible job at concocting a look that treaded the edge of an hallucinogenic blade: Kelsall, for all intents and purposes looks Human, without really feeling Human.

The haunting is a pretty significant conflict in With Eyes of Glass. Locke is assailed by all of these motifs relating to Kelsall: the watching eyes, the pale face, creeping in behind her.

When Box first voiced their thoughts on Kelsall, we knew we had figured out how to materialise that sense of the insomniac plague that infects the city.

I think elements like the necklace made essentially of dots, can create a very recognizable silhouette even in dark scenes, and it's the kind of simple shapes i like to work with.

I imagine something like: Locke is resting her head on the counter of a bar (maybe she's been drinking a bit) nested in her own arms, and from the dark behind her emerges her partner's white visage, like a ghost, slowly gets closer, and whispers something in her ear.

I just really like to play with shapes in the dark, that's why I love noir and horror a lot.

And there we have it: a better look at the other half of With Eyes of Glass, Kelsall. Box and I are super excited to show more of it off! Now that Wandering Shade has been concluded, With Eyes of Glass will take the slot of the first comic we share everyone month. But before the first page comes out... we have another sick illustration to show off.
