Whiiir. Clank. Bloop!

Insight Function: [ACTIVE]

Yesterday we shared our latest illustration from With Eyes of Glass: Late Night Haunting. I mentioned how Box first brainstormed ways with which we could showcase the fragile mental state that Locke is in, and how Kelsall, the ghost behind the haunting manifests herself. It was a relatively short conversation, because our primary discussions on the visual motifs of the story were so fruitful; we knew how to enhance the atmosphere of the story we were trying to tell, and the script that was being written.

As soon as I saw the inks for this piece I knew that Box had knocked it out of the park: the blood and Kelsall's visage, so beautifully centred, was perfect. The blood is drawn in a way that invokes red yarn pulled across detective case boards, and when it spreads, it unveils a body just out of sight of everyone, gruesomely depicting the attitude in this dystopian city.

Box's attempt at depicting that neo-noir city has been flawless, and a big part of that is their use of colours: the cold bloods lost in the shadow of the bright reds, is such a stellar choice. Throughout the comic, colour will play a huge role in setting the tone and mood of an atmosphere that is palpably gritty. Box has been a phenomenal partner in bringing this vision to life, and as I share all of yours thoughts and comments with Box, all they can do is profusely thank you for all the love; and from me, a deep thank you as well. <3
