Insight Function: [ACTIVE]

I wanted the worldbuilding to feel subtle, while adding an unmistakable layer to our storytelling.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

The Outlandish Knight has been retold as a poem, tale and even as a song; adapting it into comic form, however, posed a particularly interesting challenge:

How do you portray a story of naivety, romance and betrayal in a new and exciting way, while staying as true as possible to the source material?

Adopting a Sapphic approach can be the obvious first change we've made, along with this adaptation being as a comic. Nevertheless, the worldbuilding and lore I concocted however, was instrumental in adding depth to our work. The Elves seeking revenge on Humans for their disregard of sacred forests and egocentric expansion draws many parallels to many conflicts of our own Human history.

This mission also adds gravitas to Eormenhild's interaction: this is not just a hedge knight in search of fame and fortune--she is the embodiment of a people, a forgotten nation and the personification of vengeance.

Considering all of the above, I had to make sure that the pacing of our story didn't betray us either. We sought to introduce the world quickly, but with enough room for immersion. We set the scene with Wynnflaed and Eormenhild, all the while adding snippets of lore and intent; and eventually, you will be able to read how we guided you to the love that grew... and the heartbreak that followed.
