So right now: Half-Simon is the result of Daphne getting affected by the sun regaining parts of Simon. As well as both consciences starting to see more eye to eye with one another as they both realize that s/he has become a vampire of sorts and the situation right now.

Half Simon is the lesser conscience, Edwina suffered the same mental awareness when she was Henry Jekyll in the original film... Also remember in this century Vampires were unhead of generally, so Daphne/Simon have no idea of what they might have become ;)
