Plein Air Painting (Patreon)

Today we discovered those beautiful flowers in the imperial gardens of the local Castle.I wanted to focus on more realistic colors this time and not going abstract and wild again. There is enough time for that in other projects. This I wanted to be a practice session for real colors. As you can see on this photo it is all a bit colder. But the sun was out for a little time and I tried to capture the feeling with the more warm sun light. Tried painting while sitting this time. Was ok :D my back wasn't that happy! :) Quick sketch with green to get the basic composition in.Forgot to prepare some gessoed boards. So I am painting on the unprepared card board from the art supply store. It has a basic ground layer to paint on, but it is super smooth and the paint is not really reacting nicely with the surface. But for a quick session like this it is more than enough.
At first I wanted to keep that white area on the right side of the canvas but later I decided to get rid of it and paint the stone wall.
After around 2,5 hours and some nice conversations on site we headed to the cafe to compare our paintings. And later in the studio I made some detail shots:
The annoying thing about being out painting at this time of the year are all the pollen flying around and making them self a nice cozy place to stay on your painting. See all the small white spots?
