The Red King - WIP (Patreon)

Hi everybody,

Early sneak peek on a new artwork.

I am currently working in this painting. I could not resist to go all red again. It is just too tempting every time. I did not have enough of it yet. :)

I started this as a “sketch” for my next bigger oil painting. Sketch is not really the right word here since it is basically a finished painting already but in my Head it is just the prepainting. The concept. The sketch for my traditional version of it.

I need to play with different options the digital world offers me and give me the freedom of experimentation which the traditional medium is (currently) not able to provide. So I solve the problems before hand in digital and paint the final painting in oils then.

It is not a completely and strikt repaint and stuff will probably look a bit different in the finished oil version but at least I know the route and don’t get stuck as it happened many times before when I started right in oils.

The finished painting will be on my Social Media Tomorrow.
