Today I continued painting for a bit and I find it really hard to define shapes and design of the character. I am so used to pick colors, paint over quickly, adjust and find the perfect shape on the way. And all that is super hard for me in traditional. The not as developed photo is the current status.

So I decided to make a quick exploration overpaint in photoshop to find out what I want. So this is what I ended up with and I am not super excited if I can transfer this to traditional.

The golden elements will be actual gold leaf.

What do you think?

Doing digital over paints is a great way to figure out a game plan before putting paint down, i like to keep mine in layers so i can use the layers as a roadmap for what comes next in the process. For example background layers, a character layer, then a forground layer.
