Adopt Timelapse - Eli the Wild Dog (Patreon)

At the beginning you'll notice I sketched other adopts!!! I sometimes start with a big canvas and just start doodling ideas for adopts. I ended up liking these three and started work right away on them. (Sometimes I'll fill a board of 10+ designs)
I work on these in between work and it helps with my workflow a lot. I think the hardest part about making adopts is starting with the art and not having a clear idea yet. It can be done for sure, and I've made some great designs going in with "nothing" and just experimenting as I make the final art. But it's hard to do it with a large batch of adopts. Doing thumbnails and ideas first makes it way more manageable. I make sure I have rough ideas for a chunk of the designs before I start on a batch. I do this for plush designs as well. The only ones I don't do this for are my flat ko-fi adopts - those I make on the spot!
For this art, I also drew directly on my sketch/concept layer, as almost just one layer entirely!!! It was nice to do that. I'm not a linework artist, I'm not a big finished complete anatomy artist in anyway. I consider myself a color/texture concept artist. So being flexible with my art in a way that feels better for me is always rewarding. Drawing like this feels more like painting than lines. For the other adopts I do lines though. You'll see in the next video!
