Current Worldbuilding Projects, what I work on behind the senes (Patreon)

Hi all, this will be a personal post and a look into projects I've been working on for ... honestly quite a while now. Only recently, I've been taking my projects a little more seriously

For MANY years I've been working on my headworld called Dog of Paradise. I created this sometime around 2014. It centers around the protagonist Tex, a hitman coyote, in world based on Southern California cities like Palm Springs and Los Angeles, but a little weird, off, colorful. It's styled like a neo western. I created a large cast of characters but slowly started removing some and now I put it all on pause. I really wanted to return to it, but I wanted to improve my character design skills GREATLY. Beyond just fun patterns and colors, but making the characters feel more individual and human-like. I've kept a whole archive of almost every character I made so I can recreate some of them (with completely different designs but keep the theme, story, name they had.)

So I wanted to keep Dog of Paradise on a hiatus, and work on other projects, here's what I've been working on :

Lone Mountain this is my second most developed story. I wanted to do a small town, cozy, mild drama, where I would work with characters closer to my age, with normal every day lives (compared to Dog of Paradise where everyone is older and are villains, lol) where it was based in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where part of my family lived and I visited throughout my life, it was always a big inspiration for me. Rural mountain town surrounded by beautiful California trees/plants, but so close to the sea and major towns in particular San jose and sorta San Francisco. It makes a really interest location for a melancholic story with themes of wanting to move away. When the characters live up on the mountain surrounded by interesting places, but there are characters who love and care for their home, respect it, don't want to leave. But they are all one big friend group, since high school, and want to support each other. I can heavily relate to the characters who don't want to move away but watching your friends get ready to. Then I finally moved away last. This story has been a great way to explore that. I'm not sure what I would turn it into, like dog of paradise, it's just fun to daydream about, draw, and so on.

It's also fun to make this headworld themed around woodlands/western animals! Dog of Paradise uses a lot of desert animals but also lots of unique ones, but Lone Mountain I tried to theme mainly around California animals. and, i got to finally use a lot of random characters i had that didn't have a home/headworld yet, so some might seem familiar.

Hospital/ER Story while dog of paradise is desert animal themed and lone mountain is forest animals, this one has no set theme, i plan on using all sorts of animal species i havent been able to use in the other two stories! VERY early on in work, but i already started a website as well. this one is just a single page which will host character bios, meant to look like a realistic/convincing hospital website. https://westwood.crd.co/  right now, there are no real profiles, just placeholders. But the main character is a Genet! It takes place in Manhattan at a high ranking emergency room. It's going to be more of a down to earth realistic drama, like Lone Mountain but with older characters and higher stakes, like dog of paradise. 

Sci Fi Story i started this a while ago, but its on hold while i focus on lone mountain and ER. it was going to take place on this large space station outside of earths orbit (they won a HUGE bid to be allowed to do that.) its a port for transfer outside of earth, first of its kind. There was travel outside of earth but difficult/expensive, this makes it easier for the average person. it focuses on characters who live/work on the station full time, stuff like engineering, pilots, agriculture, retail in the shops, hotel on the station, etc. its state of the art tech, but themed around 2000s. while i dont have a website ready i do have a moodboard! https://www.pinterest.com/tomatotiger/sci-fi-headworld-wip/  

So im trying to work on lone mountain, finish up all character profiles/give them some basic art, then move onto Hospital story, then maybe Sci fi or back to dog of paradise!
