The moral dilemma of when and how sacrifices should be made for the greater good is an age-old question - in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan it was framed by Mr. Spock as "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". Obviously Dresden and his cohorts had no legal or moral authority to use Eros as a giant test lab, but they were operating on an internal logic that allowed them to justify such heinous acts as being necessary for the greater good of humanity as a whole. It's one of the great things about this series: the bad guys aren't simply two-dimensional villains with poorly fleshed out motivations; they're well defined and believable personalities with strategies & plans that make sense within the world of the show.

Yes I like that in the show it's not all black and white and I can see and understand everyone's motivations and actions. Definitely well written!
