I studied So. Many. Butts, you guys.

Right, so, what are you looking here? Well, it's the Inks and Flats for Page 16, and then a bunch of show-and-tell of all the work I did for that ONE single BUTT PANEL. The thing is when I penciled it before, I'd sort of leaned heavily on the previous butt (on page 15), and figured I'd just match a few things and call it good, but when I started to ink it, and the more I worked it, the more it looked off-model and weirdsies. There wasn't enough... buttock, and hip, and taint, and ball-drop, and then the weird perspective and... ugh. I redrew it maybe 3? 4 times? Each time it got better, so I just kept going.

Truth be told, I'm still not perfectly happy with it. It might not overlay as well as I'd wanted, and the press doesn't feel as squashed-in as before. BUT. At some point, you gotta call it good-enough and move on!

Anyway, I wanted to show you all that process, show you what I was getting stuck on; I was looking at a lot of refrence and drew a lot of butts. Untill I found things that felt right and fit enough with what I wanted that butt to look like. 

I hope you've all been keeping well? My December has been so flipping busy; this is my first real weekend in 3 weeks(?), just too much IRL-work crunch as the year ends. I'm really looking forward to finishing this page in the next week or so, then I might take a week off while I think up layouts for the next few pages: I can't wait for it, you guys. I want to see that snoot all up on that junk!

The way my wife explains it and the way that I understand it would be related to the difference between genitalia and masculinity/femininity. Like somebody who is bi might have a specific taste in how masculine or feminine they like each of their genders to be. They might prefer the traditional gender ideology in terms of masculinity and femininity with associated genitalia or the opposite or some specific spectrum in between. For bi girls I personally know (as an example) they typically prefer more masculine females and slightly less masculine males. A totally feminine trans woman would not appeal to them because of their preferences. My wife being pan basically means that she doesn't assign any kind of masculinity or femininity with her genital preference (which she also has no specific preference for). We have a similar taste in women for the most part, but there are women she finds attractive that I wouldn't even spare a passing glance at. It's a hard concept to explain because most people aren't strictly "bi" in the sense that they ONLY like ONE particular type of guy and ONE particular type of girl (there's usually a broader spectrum) but there's usually an extreme example you could make. Like with me personally, I wouldn't find a trans man to be attractive if they were totally on the masculine side even if they still had their birth genitalia. I'm not attracted to completely masculine features regardless of genitalia even though you'd think straight male = likes vagina. It's more complicated than that. My wife, however, wouldn't be bothered at all. I hope this makes ANY sense LOL

In my head: Bi = attraction to people whose gender expression sits somewhere on the masculine-feminine scale. That includes trans and all sorts, it doesn't mean attraction to just male/female. Pan = attraction to all, regardless of gender expression. I lean on either of them; bi feels old-school, and pan is new school. Very similar things.

That's probably a much better way to describe it. I wouldn't say it's necessarily old-school/new school to be one or the other personally. I can completely understand what it feels like to be attracted to very specific types of people on the typical masculine-feminine scale despite myself personally legitimately wishing that wasn't the case. Sometimes you just can't change the way your brain's horny chemicals react to specific types of people. ;-; BUT YES! With my giant above post, I was basically trying to convey that my wife doesn't really care about where you fall on the masculine-feminine scale or what genitalia you have or a combination of either aspect. As long as you're a human, she's got the possibility to think you're hot.

Glad my version works =D She sounds super rad! For me, I just like Bi; because I dig feeling masculine and feminine traits in people (I don't really care about genitalia or gender). I'll say pan every so often, but I grew up with being 'bi' so I sort of feel emboldened to keep it.

I need to remember this when the subject/frustration of “those missing panels” keeps coming up. Typical for those of us who can’t draw. (ie. see avatar). Even tho I’ll watch other artist for HOURS on their live streams. The attention to detail is insane. Like photography, you never see the rejects. Even tho the same amount of work went into the rejects as well as the finished perfect submission. Very easy to criticize when you’re not the one putting in the work. I feel like I owe you an apology just on GP. (General Principle.) I’ll go sign off now. Oh, thanks all for the bi/pan clarification. Bi is older. Just like me. Need to re-evaluate myself, now…

I think you may not have meant to reply to me but I'm gonna reply because what you're saying is interesting. That's a big realization to make and it's cool to change your viewpoint based on what you learn, both arts and identity wise. It's been a while since I've drawn much, but I shoot photography professionally and like any of the arts the time investment in the gear (prob less critical for a digital artist but I bet a good tablet and machine to work on aren't cheap), and in getting to the level you can present your stuff to the public is huge. I love this patreon for the reason you say, you can actually watch Ama work through the rejects and the keepers. Ama's got a lot of people to please (I get anxious just producing work for one client at a time) so I can see how hard this can be. As for "missing panels," it may have to do with pacing the story here, and I think the story is most important - it gets in your head and can help you picture what's beyond just what's visually presented to you. If that makes sense.
