A wolf’s first move is usually either a bite or a slam with its front legs.

To draw that attack out from the wolf, I hold 【Shadow Sword】 at middle stance.

Without taking my eyes off the wolf charging toward me, I read the timing…… read it……

"...Huh?"

Just when I thought it had gotten within a few meters of me, it suddenly leapt high toward the top of a tree to the side.

At the same time, I heard some kind of scream-like voice from up in the tree, but that also stopped the instant the wolf landed on the ground.

"............Huh?"

When I turned my gaze toward the wolf that had come down to the ground, it had something like a squirrel the size of a goblin in its mouth.

Its head was inside the wolf’s mouth, so I couldn’t tell what kind of face it had, but…… its arms and legs were dangling limply, and I could tell it was dead without even needing to confirm it with 【Fairy's Eye】 or the snake’s eyes.

"Why?"

The wolf probably didn’t hear that mutter of mine, but it moved its mouth and kept crunching down on it with a grinding sound.

Then it spat it out.

"Ah, so you’re not eating it."

Its head had been crushed into a mess, so in the end, I still had no idea what this thing was…… but setting that aside, what in the world just happened?

I’d been sure they were originally from the same pack, and it had come in response to a call for help, but this was clearly different.

Even giving it the benefit of the doubt, if it had killed it and eaten it, I could’ve thought it was starving…… but no matter how I look at it, it only killed it.

Or rather…… not only was that the end of it, even now it’s still biting off its arms and legs and spitting them out around the area…… does it have some kind of grudge?

The wolf wasn’t satisfied with just biting off the arms and legs of the monster’s corpse I’d been chasing, and now it’s tearing open its belly and scattering its insides all over the place.

I’ve seen monsters fighting each other before, but…… I’ve never seen monsters with this much difference in strength fight, and this is also the first time I’ve seen one bare its killing intent this openly and attack.

What in the world did that thing do……?

While watching it get mangled so badly that I could no longer tell what its original form had been, I was thinking about that.

After a while, the wolf must have finally been satisfied, because it tossed the corpse aside and started rubbing its face against the ground.

It’s probably wiping the blood off, but…… if it would just go somewhere after this, that’d be best…… unfortunately, that might be difficult.

While the wolf was absorbed in the monster’s corpse, I’d been looking for an opening to attack or a chance to withdraw, but even while doing that, it kept me firmly in its field of vision, and it still is now.

"If all I’m doing is running away, I could just fly off all at once, but…… this type of monster will chase you even if you fly. If it was just me, that’d be fine, but I can’t let a monster at this level get out of the forest……"

It’s a pretty strong monster, but even so, 【Floating Orb】 is much faster than it, and if I’m only running from this place, that’d be easy.

The problem is, its tracking ability is probably high, and I’d end up having to fight it outside anyway.

That might be better than fighting it in the forest, but…… if it ends up dragging other monsters along on the way, that’d be troublesome, and in the first place, letting a monster from the First Forest outside is far too dangerous.

Even if members are standing by nearby, I don’t know if they’ll be able to contain every single one without letting any escape…… and if, by chance, someone happened to be passing along the highway……
