Today, we are presenting something deeply personal to us.

The Hundredth Chamber, our 100th large-scale FOI Studios project, now has its own complete digital presentation at:

foiboudoir.com

This website was created to bring every part of the project together. The photography, four muses, production journey, visual philosophy, behind-the-scenes moments and original music now exist inside one connected world.

Why We Created The Hundredth Chamber

FOI began in Kolkata in 2017 with a camera and a belief that photography could preserve more than beauty. It could preserve emotion, trust, memory and the private strength of the person standing before us.

After ninety-nine projects, we did not want our hundredth production to feel like a celebration of numbers. We wanted it to represent everything we had learned about light, direction, colour, psychology and visual storytelling.

The Hundredth Chamber became that project.

It was created inside an old-world private salon filled with tall wooden windows, carved furniture, chandeliers, marble floors, arched passages and rooms that seemed to carry memories of another time.

The location was divided into different visual worlds, including the grand dining hall, the bedroom, the sunroom and the arched passage. Each space was treated as a separate emotional environment.

Four Muses. Twelve Stories.

The project features four muses:

Aayu ChoudharySwapna HalderPoulomiDebpriya

Each muse was photographed in three different looks, creating twelve complete sets and twelve individual lighting plans.

The purpose was never to place four people inside the same visual formula. Every muse brought a different energy into the room.

Aayu’s story moves through red, gold and intense stillness.

Swapna carries an almost archival softness between black-and-white portraiture and warm window light.

Poulomi’s chapter explores quiet confidence, texture and the strength of being seen on her own terms.

Debpriya holds the atmosphere of the collector cover through dark fabric, heritage windows and commanding stillness.

Together, they became four different emotional interpretations of the same chamber.

Building the Visual Atmosphere

The production combined cold window-blue with warm tungsten practicals, candlelight and carefully controlled shadows.

We worked with two 500-watt lights, two 400-watt WRGB lights, two 300-watt lights, tungsten sources and candles. Every room required a different balance of colour and contrast.

The still photographs were created with the Sony A7R IV using 20 mm, 35 mm and 85 mm lenses. Selected cinematic sequences were filmed with a 35 mm cinema prime.

But the equipment was only part of the process.

The real work was deciding what each room should feel like, where the muse should exist inside that space and how colour, posture, expression and silence could communicate a story without words.

The Original Project Soundtrack

The Hundredth Chamber also has an original five-song album titled The Easiest Thing, created specifically to represent the feelings and emotions behind the project.

The five songs are:

The Easiest Thing

Maybe Sleeping

Take It Off

Lay Down

Strong

Each song carries a different emotional layer of the visual story, moving through tenderness, dreaming, confidence, surrender and strength.

You can listen to the complete album through the integrated Spotify player on the website or directly on Spotify.
