There's a template going around on Twitter where you showcase the last ten years of your artwork, to see how it's changed/improved/etc. It was pretty interesting, looking back through my old work.

Seeing certain stylistic choices, the way I used color or simplified stuff, what kinds of ideas were most vital to me at different times. Some years I was spoiled for choice with stuff I loved, it was really tough to narrow it down to just one. A couple years, there was exactly one I was still satisfied with and all the others felt like failures (or at the very least, I looked at them and thought, "I would change so many things here").

What amazed me the most was my output in the past -- it used to be no big thing to do 3-5 pieces a week every week, or there were a few months where I did a new drawing every single day. With my various physical and mental health issues now, I find it a lot more challenging to keep up that kind of output without destroying my body or burning out. But at least I'm still here, still drawing, still doing the best I can. If I get one good thing worth sharing finished every week, I'm pretty happy! And it's not impossible that I'll get that kind of output back in the future, if I keep taking better care of myself. Just gotta keep trying!

Anyway, thank you all so much for being on this journey with me! Fingers crossed for another 10 years, and another 10 years, and so on and so forth. I'm 35 right now, and I hope that however long I'm around, I'm still drawing the whole time.

We've come a long way from girls with long blue hair, by which I mean we circled around the entire rainbow. You've improved a lot, experimented, and yet your style is still iconic!

Your art has been incredible since the start and it’s only improved since then! Hope to continue watching your work evolve :)

I'm still glad that I found out about your world of art, back when I was in high school. So much had definitely changed within these past 10 years, but your art style has always brought a smile to my face, even when I wasn't have the greatest day. I hope you continue to focus on yourself, taking care of yourself, and improving yourself for the years to come! ☺️👊⭐

Damn, I don't remember 2015 but I remember all from 2016 onward, probably when I found your profile. Of these pieces you chose, 2023 and 2022 are my favorites :D In all those years, never seen anything different than "commissions on indefinite hiatus" which pains me a lot, I would love my OC in your style. I've seen people with OCs in your art in the past years but this dreaded message never changed and I don't want to bother you by messaging rofl.. I cry everyday xD

I first saw your work with the waterfall girl. I looked a bit deeper and loved your art. Been a fan ever since.

I remember discovering your art in early 2016 and being super inspired to take drawing more seriously, more than just silly doodles in my notebook during classes. I follow your art still and you stay being one my biggest inspirations man, the improvement over time and creativity you got never ceases to blow me away. I'm happy I watched Etika and got immediately distracted by the red swimsuit Robin on his shirt the first time I saw it lol. I don't think I would've been having fun with art like I do today if it weren't for your work <3

I still remember stumbling up on that 2016 Tharja, and I've been a huge fan ever since then. I genuinely think you're one of my favorite artists ever and I love seeing every new piece you make. A humble thank you for sharing your work with us all this time Akai. 🙏
