"A group of old college friends reunite for a trip to a most dangerous country in Europe - Sweden, encountering a menacing presence there stalking them."

Far too many people trying to save others for my liking!

River Crestfallen

The God's name is Moder. It is an obscure Jotunn God. It lives in Swedish forest and is bastard offspring of Loki. Moder means mother in Swedish and is female. It is a Gaurdian and Protector. In this film it is just inspired by the God not actually the God. Perhaps cause they made up their own story or whatever.

I absolutely love this movie. It's great blend of horror and grief. In case my fellow patreon members haven't seen this and are watching along for the first time with Nick ***SPOILERS*** I adore the design of the God. The idea that we can't understand what we're looking at... perfection. Thank you for reacting to this one Nick.

So glad to see you react to this! I loved this film when it came out and immediately read the book. It is worth a read, the author somehow manages to make it even more brutal than the film but the film does tidy up some weird plot points. When you were asking about if there's more of a meaning to it, I think the whole situation is about masculinity and survivors guilt. Like, while Luke does learn to fight back, more importantly he learns that it's okay to survive.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this movie wasn't actually filmed in Sweden, it was filmed in Romania. It's sadly a common trope for "Swedish" movies that aren't produced by a Swedish film company

I have been DECEIVED! well, Romania looks beautiful too! Drac’s Castle is on my bucket list!

I just actually started reading one of Stephen Kings new books and after that, I plan on reading this one!

Yeah, the design was wonderfully unique and offputting! 😖 they did an excellent job with that!
