"Cat is a solitary animal, but as its home is devastated by a great flood, he finds refuge on a boat populated by various species, and will have to team up with them despite their differences."

Did this win the Oscar?!

I'm home with a cold and slept most of the day and wanted something to watch and BOOM! I really hope you loved this beautiful film. I cried like 5 times when I first watched and will probably cry more again lol! Oscars are March 2nd. I think this will take the award! 😁

I just finished watching! So glad you loved this! I think that humans may have been extinct for a while in this movie. I think because maybe humans aren't polluting the waters anymore that's why all the fish are so colorful and why that whale has evolved into some brand new species. I loved the scene with the bird going up to what I believe is their "heaven" aka the sky. I also think the whale did die and the end credit scene was them going to their "heaven" aka the ocean. I also think it's a crazy coincidence that the bird goes off into the light and then right after that the water goes down. 🤔 My favorite review of this film is featured on Flows letterbox page.. it's three words.. "fuck them dogs" lmao 🤣 😂 Again I'm so glad you enjoyed. 😁

This movie was absolutely beautiful, I loved the city ruins and all the flooded architecture. For a bit in the beginning I was thinking humans were recently all gone, because of the paper sketch of the cat in that house hadn't been completely eroded or eaten by insects. Also what insane woodworker was making Cat Mountain??? I do think the bird scene at the end was a sort of death scene, when the other birds broke its wing that was kind of a death sentence for it. I'm kind of wondering if the flooding is just some extreme version of tides, that take weeks or months to move? Like high tide for part of the year and low tide for the rest? There's some many lore questions I have.

I will watch your reaction this week-end. I ve already seen it twice in theatre. It s my favorite movie of 2024. I smiled I cried I laughed. I showed it to my husband. He smiled. He cried. He Laughed. It s an amazing experience. CAN’t wait to see you react to it.

Oh this must have been beautiful on the big screen!

Reminds me of Endgame when there are literal whales in the Hudson River because half of all life blipped away, so there was much less water pollution. Damn shame!

This movie really stunned me. I don't watch animated movies very often, but the Oscar nom for this piqued my interest. The score was gorgeous and you care SO much about these animals. I think the lack of dialogue was massively in its favor - I think it's much more effective that way. Sad little mews from the water pull at your heart more than a voice actor crying "help" during those scenes, for example (imo). The scene where the birds hobble the one who helped the cat upset me SO much, and the symbolism of both the whale and bird dying (maybe?) after having saved the cat was so powerful. Like parent figures dying or something. And they captured animal behavior and personality so well and wove humor in really beautifully. Really kind of blown away by this movie. Loved watching it along with you 🙂
