This was great! This is honestly one of my top 10 horror movies, short and sweet. (and that's only partly has to do with me staring at Kristen the whole time) I'm 100% on the side that the creature could read her thoughts and was actively trying to get away. I'm also convinced the Captain actually sort of knew about the monsters beforehand? On the Shepard station his locker has map markings and drawings of a creature and sigil maybe? I'm thinking the smaller ones were probably coming through even before they drilled down enough to release the big one. (Going back to the locker scene, I actually think he might have been a cult member? It would explain why he never really feels surprised about anything and straight up refuses to acknowledge the creatures...)(2nd edit: I am 100% convinced it's a cult, the way the announcement said "Tian Industries, we have big things in store for you" always felt more pointed then besides just having great timing, also I literally just got it.....LovecrafTIAN)

I also think it’s possible that he was an apostle of Cthulhu or he was somehow influenced to cause its release or something along those lines. This is how you do a film that leaves threads that make you wonder versus leaving you feel unfulfilled! 👏
