David Lynch, the master of surrealism, godfather of all things Twin Peaks, and my favorite director of all time, truly outdid himself with this one. And the performances? Incredible. Especially Naomi Watts. I never tire of it, no matter how many time I watch it. But then again, that holds true with just about everything he’s ever made. Lost Highway may be my favorite film from him, and his revolutionary Twin Peaks my all time favorite show- but I parked up high and left my ♥️ bleeding out on the side of Mulholland Drive long ago. When Lynch passed away last year, I cried for months. Partly because I knew I’d never get to watch a new Lynch film ever again. More importantly though, it was because David Lynch was a singular original, an artistic genius (people throw that word around way to much these days, but he really was a genius), and as unique as he was visionary; truly one of a kind. And I know we’ll never see his kind again in my lifetime. I’ll love you and your films and shows forever David. I will never tire of watching them. Thank you for all you’ve given us over these many, many years. And for changing television, and what was possible on television, for the better. You will never be forgotten. And maybe someday I’ll get to tell you all this, in another dimension, on the other side of the exit to nowhere, down at the end of Mullholland Drive. Silencio 🖤😢

Did Naomi win an Oscar for this?! She better have! WAIT is Lost Highway the one with some creepy looking dude who randomly talks to some guy at a party???

Rebecca Karsner

She wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for this.. however David Lynch was nominated for best director for this film. That was its only nomination for the movie. And yes that is Lost Highway with Bill Pullman!

So basically the first 2 hours was all a dream. Diane and Camilla were up and coming actresses, clearly Diane was the more talented one. They had a relationship together that got ruined when Camilla was willing to sleep her way to the top. At the beginning of the film we actually see a POV shot of Diane put her head down on the pillow and then we go into her dream. She basically regrets having Camilla killed so in her dream she gives her amnesia so she doesn't remember her. She creates this whole mystery that she has to help her solve while falling in love again. The closer they get to the truth though is were the dream really starts to unravel. She even dreamed that the hit man was incompetent because of the guilt she felt. She also hates Adam Kesher for 2 reasons.. for not casting her in the lead role in the Sylvia North story and then giving it to Camilla and also having a relationship with her and ultimately stealing her girl away from her. So in her dream she makes him have a terrible day.. losing his movie, his riches and even his own wife cheating on him. There's a lot more I could dive in but the more you watch it, the more things you pick up on. Im glad you like it! I hope your mom is okay!! 😔 My mom is in the hospital too so I've been working and then there and haven't had much personal time.

We all should hate Adam. I went down the rabbit hole after finishing and this is just...perfection.

Add her to the "I will never forgive the Oscars for this!" list with Toni Collette and Naomi Scott!

Omg right? It's so fascinating how much symbolism went into this. I swear everytime i watch it i see more things I didn't before!! I love when films can do that!
