Alright, y'all, this is my full length reaction to the eighth episode of Heartstopper!

*woot woot*

HOW DOTH THIS WORKETH?

The show is on Netflix. If you choose to sync up, I will do a countdown, and we will both hit play, this way you can watch along with me.

This is a full video of ME, this does NOT contain the actual episode. I'm not trying to go to jail. :D

Heartstopper Episode 8 Full Reaction

Heartstopper is honestly the most wholesome and adorable Igbt+ series I have ever seen. It does touch on topics surrounding bullying, consent and mental health but those are largely overshadowed by the innocent romance at the center of the story. Alice Oseman has created a fantasy world where leaves and hearts swirl at a glance, and sparks fly over a simple touching of hands, and yet it feels so real because as a teenager that's exactly how it felt. I'm in my 30s and I can only imagine how different my life might have been had there been a show like Heartstopper when I was in school. I certainly understand why some people feel a sense of sadness watching this series because this kind of lgbt content didn’t exist for us when we were teens. Thinking back on my own experiences, I was not ready at age 15 to be out in high school, have a boyfriend, and have the kind of romanticized relationship depicted in the show. I did not have the emotional maturity for a relationship like that. Is any 16 year old as mature and in touch with their feelings as Nick? It’s a total fantasy, but I’m so glad teens today have a show like this.

Agreed! I mean, even the kids I disliked in this show, are kids. Brains aren't even fully developed yet. Me disliking some is purely TV show "okay", versus genuinely disliking them.

Great reaction. The whole cast is amazing. The ending is all we deserve.

Following your face journey throughout this show has been amazing, thank you for doing the whole show!! I can't wait for season 2 (and 3), especially since Osman's said we'll be getting some ace rep with Isaac. Totally agree about your final points, feels like a perfect mix of realism and optimism – you can have a hopeful show for queer kids without shoving the bad stuff under the rug. I'm honestly so impressed with these kid actors?? idk especially Nick's actor really struck a chord with me, his face does SO MUCH and watching him act with Coleman was so impressive

Growing up in a small, super conservative eastern KY town it took me a long time to accept myself and even though I’ll be 30 next month there’s still a lot of stuff I need to work on. But when I first watched this show I just immediately latched on to it and couldn’t stop talking about it with everyone. I didn’t understand why at first but eventually I realized it’s the representation I’ve always needed. If I had something this positive and wholesome when I was in high school things would’ve been so different. So a part of me got kind of sad at the end of this show because I never got to have this experience but another part of me was just full of joy because this show is going to help so many kids today and I’m so glad a lot of today’s generation won’t have to endure what a lot of us did just so that we could be ourselves and be happy.

It's so beautiful people are responding to this in such a positive way! It's nice to finally have something uplifting and hopeful, versus the usual tragic content. :)

I can't wait to do season 2! And there is something else coming up that the Heartstopper crowd has been asking for! :P
