Hello there, friends. Here we are again. Another exhilarating/exhausting 168 hours of life added to our respective collections of existence. Here at 65LABS, as is mandatory, the entire team is now crowded around a single whiteboard, poised to brainstorm and agonise over each and every word of this update. This is how much we care about you all.
Outside the world of 65LABS, and in the distinctly less glamorous land of 65daysofstatic, this last week has featured a significant amount of dull-but-time-consuming logistics, so new activity to fill the devblog is a little thin on the ground. Nevertheless, work did continue. Here’s a summary.
THIS WEEK
- Mimik was released! Surely you didn’t miss this, but in the very unlikely case that you did, check the post HERE. We gathered a bunch of new subscribers because of this - thank you very much, and we hope you stick around. Please take the time, if you have it, to check out the older posts here to get a sense of all the other things happening beyond the releases. Perhaps most significantly, if this news has so far eluded you, we are currently developing V2 of the Wreckage Systems Stream, and the secret link to that stream is HERE. It is updated most weeks, and currently has 49, much more advanced systems running. A big update compared to the public V1 stream. Also - it seems like most of the new people who want them have already DM’d us for Bandcamp codes for the releases. If you haven’t yet but would like them, DM-ing through Patreon is the way to do it. Oh, and also if you use Discord, we have a SERVER and if you hook up your Discord account to Patreon in account settings, you will also automatically get added to the Patreon-only back channel there to be able to discuss the V2 stream, or the merits of glitch, or whatever you like really. It's full of nice people.
- There’s a new post in the works that wasn’t quite ready to be published this week. It’s about the making of Sister from our last album replicr, 2019. It will be out next week for sure.
- We did some more work on another thing that we would really like to announce, but are aware that once it is announced here, it will be very hard to un-announce it without embarking on a longer, gruelling campaign of misinformation and gaslighting you all. Which, even though the 65LABS Psy-Ops wing is currently heavily under-utilised, doesn't really seem in the spirit of this project. So instead we just wanna make sure it’s a go-er before we tell you about it.
- Quick shout out to Tomm from the Discord server, who has been diligently watching the V2 stream and pointing out bugs to us. The rest of you clearly haven’t read the small print of the 65LABS Patreon agreement, because it actually says that you should all be committed to doing this for at least 8 hours a day.
NEXT WEEK
- You will get the making of Sister, otherwise known as How to Capture the Sound of a Billion Volcanoes Erupting Simultaneously. This is a rare co-production between the All Music is Sine Waves and the All Music is Social Relations wings of 65LABS, who briefly achieved a fragile détente/pure, undiluted DIALECTICS, in order to make this important intervention.
- There’ll definitely be time to get a few more systems for V2 off the ground and, assuming that they are good, into a new build of the stream.
- We’ll also do some more work on that previously mentioned unannounced thing to see if we dare to announce it yet or not.
That’s it for now. It seemed like you all enjoyed Mimik - thanks for all the kinds words as well as your continuing support here.
See you next time, friends.
