Hi there, friends. Here we all are once again A little more ragged/resilient. A touch more tired/wired around the eyes. Staring with hope/nope at the blazing future. One week closer to utopia… Right?

THIS WEEK

- THREE NEW SYSTEMS! Two were born from the same starting point, with the intention of being just a single system, but along the way they diverged enough to have two distinct identities. So: Laser Games is the sound of lonely but content photons, lost in a storm of stars and space, drifting through some kind of cosmic hyper mist.

Laser -> Solar, meanwhile, takes the guitars providing the ambience in Laser Games and lets them bloom into the widescreen score to every single ‘gazing longingly upwards to the stars and taking in the wonder of the universe’ scene in the history of cinema all playing at once.

Finally, please welcome the return of an upgraded Squall system, which you might remember from the V1 stream. It’s a clattering of drums and the rusting screams of abandoned, ghost-ridden container ships adrift on an angry ocean. Expressed through weird jazz. It’s been a longtime favourite here at 65HQs and its arrival in V2 heralds the slow darkening of the sky as we enter another phase of autumn dread. You’re welcome.

- BUGFIX: this was spotted on the Discord server. (Apologies, didn’t make a note of who brought it up) It was possible for the Number Station system to hang around for a loooooong time. This was human error (if you really want to know the problem: a maximum runtime value of 120 seconds got bumped to 180 seconds, but what actually got entered was 1280 seconds). The human in question has been promoted and given a raise.

- ANOTHER BUG FIX: and another forgotten name in the Discord (apologies again) who gave us a handy example to check… the abrupt stopping of some systems should now no longer happen.

- These three new systems and hopefully fixed bugs are in build 2.0.0.7, went online earlier today, since we valiantly overcame the current wifi problems at 65LABS. Unless we forgot to edit this paragraph of the devblog because we’re too busy struggling with the current wifi problems at 65LABS. Assuming it's the first thing, then there are now 52 systems online. Can you guess the magic number of systems we’re trying to reach before launching V2? Here's the V2 Test Stream Link, for anybody who needs it.

- How to Capture the Sound of a Billion Volcanoes Erupting Simultaneously. Earlier in the week an instructional video from 65LABS dropped, deconstructing one of the recording techniques used while making the song Sister from 65’s replicr, 2019 album. If you missed that, you can check it out HERE.

- Remember that thing we mentioned last week, that we didn’t want to announce until we were sure it was announceable? Well, it turns out that it is announceable. Soon. There was a bunch of work done on it this week. You’ll like it. Hold tight.

NEXT WEEK

- Most likely it will be a week of making some new systems and prepping some other bits for the following week, which ought to be a little more interesting.

That’s it. Hope you’re all ok.

I reckon it's 69 - can't think of any other pertinent numbers ;-)

Simon Golland

I guess 54, because then we're only a couple of systems from launch.
