Hi, friends! Here we are once again, standing atop another week, clumsily balanced on the rickety scaffolding of all-the-things-that-ever-happened. You’d think we might be able to catch a glimmer of the bright future beyond the looming weekend from all the way up here. But no. Strange…
Welcome to the final devblog of Wreckage Systems Season One. A noisy stumble toward utopia. We almost made it, huh?
First up, A NOTE TO NEW SUBSCRIBERS: There’s been a small surge of you since the announcement that Version Two is about to go live on the public stream, which coincides with the end of Season One of the Wreckage Systems project. Don’t panic! The season ending doesn’t mean that the Patreon is about to close down entirely. It just means that there is going to be a break. We still have some plans (this devblog from a couple of weeks ago explains things a little more), and in the meantime there’s a whole universe of Wreckage from the last almost-a-year of this project to catch yourselves up on. May we recommend the recent end-of-year devblog as a handy jump-off point to explore. Thanks for the support and we hope you’ll stick around.
THIS WEEK
- A heavy week of Wreckage hurtling out of 65LABS these last seven days! First up, if you missed the Wreckage Systems Technical Overview on Monday then you really should check it out. It is a short video that explains the workings of the Wreckage Systems stream. It took ages to make. Accompanying the video is a written PDF that goes deep into the more technical side of how the streams are built and exist in cyberspace.
- Wednesday saw the long-awaited release of Wreckage Systems: The V1 Archive. This is software available for macOS, Windows and Linux that gives you your very own instance of Wreckage Systems V1 on your personal computer. It is an archive, an act of digital preservation, and an endless music machine for your listening pleasure. Stream your own endless broadcast or cycle between the 21 different V1 systems as you wish. The V1 Archive is FREE as part of your Patreon subscription. Check out the Patreon release post HERE or head straight over to the V1 Archive Main Page, connect your Patreon account and get stuck in.
- There has been a vague, periodical Q&A happening over on our Discord server. There's still time to ask questions if you like (just remember to @ us so we see it). We’ll make sure to hang around the pateron Discord back-channel again and answer anything that's remaining on Monday, when we launch Version Two.
NEXT WEEK

- DEBRIS is a new album-length release that gathers together all the miscellaneous excerpts, in-progress tracks and noise oddities that came out of Season One of Wreckage Systems over the last year and are scattered about this Patreon. They have been pulled together, re-mastered, sculpted into something that feels somewhat close to an album, and will be dropping into your inboxes on Monday. It will come with Bandcamp codes. Here’s the tracklisting:
- 1. DEBRIS: Intro
- 2. Bit Drift (Excerpt)
- 3. Z2
- 4. WS_Ad: FutureWithoutFuture
- 5. Detext V2 (Excerpt)
- 6. The Flood Pulse (Excerpt)
- 7. WS_Ad: Japan
- 8. Post-Keyhole
- 9. Unravelling V2 (Excerpt)
- 10. WS_Ad: Flood
- 11. Procedural Piano During a Storm 300621
- 12. Mountain Render 260917
- 13. Field Recording of a System Crash 290621
- 14. 65WAREZ Crack Screen Audio
- 15. Cyclone Capture 2022-01-07 @13_43_38 Offline Testing Stream
- 16. Pianoblivion (Excerpt)
- 17. System65 (Excerpt)
- Also on Monday, The VERSION TWO stream will go live on the main 65daysofstatic YouTube channel, with an audio-only version streaming on 65daysofstatic.com. This will be new to a lot of people but, obviously, not so new to all of you. Expect both the V1 and V2 streams to go offline at some point this weekend. There is no ‘big turn on’ moment scheduled for V2 because it will take some amount of work to switch around servers and streams and so it probably won’t all sync up perfectly into a single, historically signifiant moment for popular culture. But if you want to be informed as soon as it goes live, subscribe to the 65Propaganda YouTube channel if you’re not already, and make sure you have the notifications enabled.
So, see you all back here on Monday for the release of DEBRIS. Until then: generate infinite noise at each other like your hearts depend on it. Take care out there friends.
