Never seen this before but liked the first episode so far, anything with alan partridge is good xD

John Taylor

The day today spoofs many real shows eg the whole helipcopter skit is based on 999 Emergency a show that used to re-enact various rescues. The "old" sitcom shown was a spoof of Love thy neigbour while the Adults watching toddlers may have been reference to Minipops a show that consisted of children recreating music videos which was accused of having a subtext of adult content.

Josh I remember spamming your YouTube videos for literally months to react to the Jam Festival clip, so I'm glad you've finally seen it!

David Lyons

Bear in mind this show aired in 1994, there will be parts that echo modern news coverage (even down to the unnecessary CG intro and transitions!) that show how far ahead of its time The Day Today was.

HB

Not sure if you noticed but all of the main actors apart from Chris Morris became the supporting cast of fake guests for Knowing Me, Knowing You. Rebecca Front, who played Nicola Murray on The Thick of It, played a different guest on every episode of KMKY, such a great comedy actor. She was also on a show called Nighty Night which is a dark hilarious comedy, about as twisted as the League of Gentlemen.

John Major gets several mentions, he was Prime Minister at the time and is probably most famous for being one of the most dull, grey and boring PMs we've ever had, although it did transpire he had an affair with one of his colleagues while in office.

For sure the street interview bits are real. They basically just completely bewilder the general public and they don't know how to react sometimes lol

AfterWorkReactions

Lol I am sure, the interviews are so awkward I would probably not know how to react either.
