This caused a lot of confusion and online conversation when it was broadcast, because it was announced that that week's edition of Inside No.9 had been cancelled, and would be replaced by this new gameshow hosted by Lee Mack, 3 By 3. You'll notice that there's none of the usual Inside No.9 opening sequence, and if you play on a little at the end, the fact that it's actually an Inside No.9 is revealed by the continuity announcer

Oh wow that's cool that'll they do these little things with the broadcasts. Even though it wasn't my favourite episode I do think my opinion on it may have been different if I watched it live. Imagine those people who tuned into it thinking it was a new games how 😂

Much like Dead Line the live episode this is one that loses a lot of its genius watching it after the fact. They filmed a fake episode set on a bus had the filming be seen and reported online. So there were photos of them filming the 'bus' episode. Then it was announced it had been cancelled and a new Lee Mack games how would air instead. So many people watched this thinking it was actually a gameshow and were horrified 🤣

Here's a really obscure reference you might have missed. Catherine is obviously a fan of "The Day Today". She sent her Mum the answer "Fur Q", who was the "Uzi Lover" rapper that killed people live on stage just like she did.

I remember when this aired originally, there was a lot of buzz about this episode. When I sat down to watch it a day or two after it's release I was really underwhelmed. As people have said, you really had to watch this live to get the full effect

The question about Matilda is a clue, a book about an oppressed girl who discovers she has psychic powers and uses them against her cruel parents...after that she also got eh answer about Witches before the question was finished. I really like this one, I enjoy tricking people into watching it ! Something about all those teatime jolly quiz shows really depress me, so I enjoy it going weird.

To answer your True Crime question about the last Inside No. 9... there was one female killer that I know of that did kill in that way, she wasn't exactly like Vicky though, she was a straight up psychopath. Everything you read about her sounds like they're making her up, but she's real, and unfortunately still alive in jail here in Australia: Katherine Mary Knight.

"Fur Q" is the spoof rapper from The Day Today. Which she used to trick her mum at the end when it was Ice T. Surprised to see him referenced! (Saying: "F*** you" to her mum as a goodbye I guess!)
