It might be a self-indulgent finale but I think they earned it and played it off well. It’s also an impressive exercise in getting countless award winning actors to come back and just be extras.

Do you remember that episode that was a gameshow presented by Lee Mack? All the previews, EPG entries and listings for that episode actually said it was going to be an episode set on a bus with Robin Askwith (the gentleman urinating like a toddler). This was obviously just a decoy and no such episode existed, although they did go to the effort to produce publicity shots for it. That's why Mr Askwith was crestfallen about never appearing in an episode and wrote a script for what might have been.
