Spoiler Free: This was a decent start to the second season.

Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!

When they were in the restaurant and Rodney made the joke about the usual "Bacteria and toast ". Was he referring to the  Marmite stuff? I know yeast isn't bacteria but I have heard people refer to yeast as bacteria before. I remember watching a video some time ago with people trying British foods and Marmite was one of the things they tried. Or was he making a joke about how filthy the restaurant is ??

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below .

Comments

Christopher Horner

It's commenting on the state of the cafe and it's lack of cleanliness. An MOT is a certificate from a certified mechanic stating the vehicle you're driving is fit to be on the road.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Yeah he's just on about how scummy the cafe is :) thanks for the vid.

Anonymous

He was probably just referring how to unclean the cafe was and how bad the food was.

Claire Prowse

Great ! Been years since I've seen this one! The series picks up a bit more pace from this season onward x

Glen Ford

that joke about him being a pervert but not dangerous because he wouldn't dress as a woman would never make it past the BBC censor board these days.

TheMightyAtom

The comment was about the cafe and it's food quality my friend.

Steve Small

Sanatogen is a vitamin company.

daniel venables

there is a monkey harris, in the british office. i wonder if thats a reference

Tony Smyth

@ CJW : Too true. I grew up hearing it but not listening to the words. Also, I am not tray fortay with the cockney linguistical dialect, so to speak.

Steve Small

Opening Lyrics Stick a pony (£25) in me pocket I'll fetch the suitcase from the van Cause if you want the best 'uns And you don't ask questions Then brother I'm your man Where it all comes from Is a mystery It's like the changing of the seasons And the tides of the sea But heres the one thats driving me berserk Why do only fools and horses work La la lala - la la la la la (etc)

Steve Small

Closing Lyrics We've got some half price cracked ice and miles and miles of carpet tiles, T.V.s, deep freeze and David Bowie L.P.s, Ball games, gold chains, whatsnames, pictures frames and leather goods, And Trevor Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush, Bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush ... No income tax, no V.A.T., No money back, no guarantee, Black or white, rich or broke, We'll cut prices at a stroke...... God bless Hooky Street, Viva Hooky Street, Long live Hooky Street, C'est magnifique, Hooky Street, Magnifique, Hooky Street, Hooky Street (to fade)

Steve Small

Shepherds Bush is a place in London.

Steve Small

Hooky Street is a Nickname or term for living on the wrong side of the law. If you live on hooky Street you are a bit of a wheeler dealer - a bit dodgy (not necessarily a master criminal, more of a lovable rogue). Del mentions "hooky gear" a lot, or protests to Rodney that something isn't "hooky". They mean stolen goods and stolen, respectively.

Steve Small

Both these songs were written and performed by John Sullivan (the show's writer).

Hayden King

To give you an idea of why Del was so worried about getting the watch back, the Flying Squad who are looking for the watches, are the branch of the police that investigate serious armed robberies.

Russell Jones

"bacteria on toast" just refers to the bad hygiene at the cafe - as though his normal thing to serve is a load of dodgy unhygeinic food
