D S

Well spotted with the accents ;)

Justyn

Classic film along with Snatch.

Rich Moyse

Vinnie Jones looks intimidating,,, watch his football highlights josh mate 🤣😳

Lee

It is Sting.

Anonymous

Lenny McLean was so good in this, I was like "why is he the only one I believe?".... oh he was actually an East End gangster lol. Shame he died before this was released, he could have been in so many movies after. I cannot help but think The Getaway's villain was entirely based on him.

Colin middleton

The guy who owns the bar (JD's) is Sting the musician

Paul Bibby

I think that was the cat from red dwarf. Was narrating the story of the guy in the pub who got torched?

BigChanChan

I'm confused... I just loaded up the Google Drive link and the title file name is 'Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels is Overrated Crime Comedy. Mp4' 😂 so I skipped to the end thinking it was going to be trash but Josh says he likes it at the end of the video!

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII
>>54109939

Me too! Ha I saw the title and thought oh no he doesn't like it 😀 so I skipped to end to see what he said because I don't want to sit through a whole film watching somebody not enjoy it lol.

Sean Riley

Some cameos for ya. The Irish bouncer on the door is a well known super middleweight boxing champion Steve Collins, Rory is The Shadow from that episode of Only Fools.. That was Cat from Red Dwarf, the traffic warden is Rob Brydon from Would I Lie To You. Fun fact Madonna liked this film and soundtrack so much she started dating Guy Richie and he included her song in Snatch. Ps I watched this film in the cinema which is located on the other side of the bridge at the end ie Putney Bridge

No idea why Vinny Jones wasn't in more movies like this as he was great. Sad for him that his long longgggg term wife died recently, he seems like a top bloke. The only celeb who has it worse is Brosnan who lost his wife and daughter.

Kyle Parsons

The two guys tasked with getting the shotguns, one of them with the Jerry curl hair, as you said, have the same accent as Lister from Red Dwarf. They are from Liverpool and people from there are called Scousers. What makes these two funnier is it plays into the stereotype that Scousers are known for robbery and thieving.

Michael Harrop

Was there a poll for the movies or is it just what Josh fancies watching? I keep hoping Life on the Road is gunna pop up since he finished The Office.

Lee

It was shot on 16mm Kodak film which gave it that classic look. I love the sets, cars and costume choices too. The scene where Nick the Greek dropped the glass and smashed the table wasn’t scripted, he actually did that by mistake 😂

Michael-James Willcox

Remember watching this with my dad when I was 12... I always wore a seatbelt after that.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

You're right Josh, that's a Scouse accent (from Liverpool in Northern England) like Lister and Denzil from Only Fools and Horses 👍

Jack Veazey

Never seen this before, WOW what a crazy ending! Twist after twist lol

Richard Carter
>>54113609

Also Denzel from Only Fools and Horses, he is a scouser too. All scousers sound similar imo, not as much regional variance.

Jay

Glad you enjoyed the movie, Josh. If you're interested in London history, I recommend you look at the Wiki page for Lenny McLean, who played Barry The Baptist. The guy has led a very interesting life, and was notorious around the London criminal underworld. He wasn't necessarily a hardcore criminal himself, but was muscle for them, and was an illegal boxing champion for a few years. Also, parts of the movie Snatch were loosely based on his life.

Caine

"It looks desaturated" welcome to England my bruva 😂

David Harman

Vinnie Jones was a football player. He holds the record for the fastest ever yellow card in english football history - 3 seconds into the game! He had a reputation for being a hard man but seems to have mellowed as he's got older. It was a bit of a novelty to see him in this film, and was a good little bit of publicity for the movie. He was genuinely good in this film which surprised me at the time. Some people wanted the car door scene cut out because it was too violent - but you never see any violence only vinnies face! It really got to people

Michael Ledger

I only wish they brought the two scousers back for Snatch. Fantastic reaction Josh.

David Harman
>>54118527

As a joke Paul Gascoinge sent Vinnie Jones a bunch of roses after this photo.

David Harman

Vas Blackwood as Rory Breaker is brilliant in this. He said he has many Greek friends from london and so ad libbed this line as he knew Greek slang: “Get Nick, that greasy wop, shistos, pesevengi, gamouri Greek bastard, if he's stupid enough to still be on this planet” great delivery of this line

Mike Doel

Yeah it is cat from red dwarf behind the bar Danny john Jules

David Harman
>>54108954

I’ve seen videos of him in an unlicensed boxing match. Real Tough guy that’s for sure.

NEXUS

Everyone's pretty much stated everything about cameos and the like,so ill just add that if you liked both of these and want some more from Guy Richie then check out RockNRolla or The Gentlemen, they are the only other British Gangster/comedies from Guy Richie worth watching.

David Harman

Apparently Tom Cruise was convinced by one of the producers to go to the US premier of this movie. He reluctantly went as a favour but ended up absolutely loving the film!

Richard Carter
>>54117840

There is also a film about him "The Guv'nor" which was the title of the illegal bare knuckle boxing champion of Britain, which he held.

Richard Carter

You've seen Vinnie Jones in Extra's before, he was in the Ross Kemp episode where Ricky told Vinnie that Ross thought he could have him in a fight.

Chris H

Love this film, it just had the edge over Snatch for me. I always wondered something about the bit in Harry's office. "Hatchet Harry" had the reputation but it was actually Barry who (pretty skillfully) used the hatchet to kill the scouser. Harry is shown to be a liar and a cheat from the card game, and again it was Barry doing the dirty work and Harry getting the glory. Is it hinting that Harry's "hatchet" reputation wasn't entirely deserved or am I reading to much into it?

Joe brownless

The small black guy with the Afro is the robber in only fools and horses episode, where he holds them hostage in the supermarket

Fred bates

Did you recognise the cat the guy telling the story about the guy who set the other guy on fire. His dad that you said you recognised is sting his really famous singer. And the traffic warden is rob bryden from would I lie to you the host.

Logan Jukes

Have you got Mean Machine on your list of films Josh? It's got a few of the same actors in (Vinnie Jones being the main one, and Jason Statham has a hilarious character in it too). You might have seen the American one about American Football with Nelly. The British one is about football obviously, but its a cracking film. I hope you get a chance to see it.

crispey bear

Rory Breaker (crazy afro dude) was in Only Fools & Horses, He was 'the shadow' the guy tasked with robbing the supermarket and the trotters were the hostages/witnesses. As Fred above says, Rob Brydon was the traffic warden and Cat from Red Dwarf was the geezer telling the story of Rory Breaker setting that bloke on fire in Samoan Joe's. Yes, Dean is from Liverpool, same as Lister.

Josip Buretic

Yes please!! Finally someone suggested The Gentlemen and RockNRolla I personally love both movies!!

Anonymous

Lock Stock is definitely my fave.

Jason Boyce

Mate, I hate Guy Ritchie & I hate these films. Any plans to watch Alpha Papa at some point?

Ian Webster
>>54115992

One of the lads is Jake Abraham and he appears in an episode of Red Dwarf in Season 5 as an alternative version of Lister.

Chris toleman

Oxide a neutrino sampled the “shit I’ve been shot” bit in their song bound 4 da reload. This is garage music which brings you perfectly onto People Just Do Nothing

Charlie
>>54184469

You're showing your age there remembering Oxide & Neutrino. Sadly, I am too by also remembering them and that song.

Sam Ringland

Hopefully he will watch the naked gun soon

Michael

Cat from red dwarf is in this, doing the cocky rhyming slang

Ian Webster

God I've seen this film maybe twice, when I was about 14-ish. I don't think I ever appreciated how good a movie this is. Yeah, the guy who sounds like Lister actually plays a version of Lister in an ep of Red Dwarf in S5 (I mentioned responding to another comment) with a speaking part. What I mostly remember from this movie was that it was Vinnie Jones' first role. He was previously a big hard bastard of a footballer. Played for Wimbledon and Leeds, was not known for his technique, see this image: https://files.list.co.uk/images/2019/05/14/evening-vinnie-jones-and-paul-gazza-gascoigne-79-LST346598.jpg It's crazy how much screen presence he has as an actor here. Bet he's a lovely bloke in real life though.

Dave Barratt

For more Vinnie Jones (and a few other cast members) we should really get Mean Machine voted up for watching!

Joe

You know the black Afro gangster in this movie well i think its him from the only fools episode when they get caught up in a robbery at the super market am i wrong ?

John Wilson

I think 'Twin Town' would be a fun film to react to. it's hilarious and it's based not too far from where I live in Wales.

Gary Tamblyn
>>54270407

You’re right, he’s called Vaz Blackwood, a cousin of another Actor, Richard Blackwood.

Luke Barron

I definitely prefer Snatch but Lock Stock is still brilliant. Next you need to watch The gentlemen. It's basically part 3.

Rob OnlyRoss

Amazing reaction bro and just really appricate you taking your time out to watch classic British films 👏🏻 I know someone has recommended Mean Machine and alot of actors from snatch and lock stock are in mean machine aswell which makes it great to watch

Mick Mills

Rock n Rolla is not a bad Guy Ritchie movie also. Snatch and Lock Stock better and The Gentlemen is a close third.

Jon Johnson

"He looks familiar", yeah it's Sting lol
