My first time seeing this also. I liked it. It's not An Idiot Abroad but it still has some funny Karl lines in it. I enjoyed the first episode enough to want to see the next.

Ah, great first reaction, Josh! I think you'll really enjoy this series and I do think it improves as it goes along. This is a decent first episode. I see the two Karls as the physical embodiment of how Karl described himself and his own brain as though they were separate entities. A really cool narrative device I think. Aunt Norma is basically his Aunty Nora that he speaks about in real life. 😁 Karl actually writes the scripts to this show alongside co-writer Richard Yee, so you're in for an authentic Karl-inspired set of stories! It's a slower, more introspective experience than An Idiot Abroad or The Ricky Gervais Show as we haven't got Ricky and Steve poking Karl with a stick - It's more about Karl himself reflecting on who he is, albeit a fictionalised version with some fabrication. Really looking forward to your seeing the series unfold! 🙏

A pretty solid pilot here. Having seen Karl Pilkington on Derek and as the butt of jokes on The Ricky Gervais Show it is hard to imagine him as a lead, even if it is a stumbling buffoon, but he sort of pulled it off. We do need to see a supporting cast show up though. He needs someone to play off. His "inner self" will only work for so long, that can't carry every episode.

Great seeing Karl. I tried to keep my expectations quite low and I was pleasantly surprised. Some nice Karl thoughts you can imagine him coming out with naturally. Looking forward to more.

The thing about sofas with the label saying it's got a fire resistant material, is from The Ricky Gervais Show. If you remember, there is an episode of Karl ringing up a company to take his old sofa and they was asking lots of questions about it

Karl named his Auntie after the show Norma after his real Auntie Nora who famously farted for five minutes. Steve called her Norma instead of Nora a lot during the XFM shows, nice little reference

I enjoyed it and I do think Karl is hilarious but I do think he is even better with other people to interact with.

He’s not schizophrenic it’s just Karl’s inner voice, like he always said “I don’t know if it’s me or my brain that wants to do x or is thinking y” Remember his film ideas were always about two brains in some way 😂
