Hello everyone, and happy Sneak Peek Thursday! Today, I am sharing a preview of my next map, this time for the CoS Reloaded Series called "The Ravine".

This map was created to support an encounter detailed in Arc C of the Reloaded guide, but even if you're not using this guide in your own games, this map will be a perfect forest road encounter. With plenty of depth and elevation to enhance the environmental elements for any potential fights, this will be a great generic outdoor map to have in your DM Toolkit.

You can find all the details for this encounter in the Reloaded guide here.

I'll have the full release ready to go by Monday!

Cheers,

DM Andy

I just joined and I’m running this encounter in a week, great timing!

I ran this encounter as written and it unalived my Warlock. He was dead before he hit the ground in the ravine and immediately got a failed death save because of the fall damage ... 😅 I made the map myself with dungeon alchemist... But your work is gorgeous!!! I kind of want to guide them along another ravine just to use the map. But if you thought that was the end of my warlock's story, think again. I offered him a deal from the Dark Powers (not the Vestiges, they're separate in my game) and he accepted... But when we talked afterwards, he felt like his character would rather die than become a plaything who might be forced to do bad things. So because he's an air genasi, he can hold his breath indefinitely. I flavored the DP taking back their gift of life it as them taking his last breath as he rejected them after the fact. He took that last breath and never exhaled. Once the party arrived in Vallaki, they were lv 4 and he took the invocation that makes it so he no longer has to sleep. So dudebro has been holding his breath for the better part of 5 in-game days now. 😅 The DP are allowing it because they're amused and want to see how long he'll keep this up. We agreed to retire that character as an NPC who now basically lives inside the bookshop with a freaked out bookshop keeper who doesn't dare to ask the Warlock to leave because he's afraid of what the silent blue guy who does not need to breathe might do to him. The Warlock is earning his keep by translating old Dusk Elf tomes and records so it's basically a win-win for both. I threw him a bone by allowing his character to look for Barovian history and giving the party some lore drops on the 'before' Strahd came to the village and the 'wars' with the dusk elves and Rahadin's role. He was always a socially inept character... who now communicates via ring bound flashcards he reuses in an obnoxious way. 🥲 So, thank you, wolves for a very interesting turn of events! 🐺
