Love that little campfire moment when Mystique says "We shouldn't have to". Nightcrawler is her son in the comics so I view it as a mom hyping up her son about his rad blue skin.

When I saw it in theaters it blew my mind. The school scene, seeing more mutant powers being used, Wolverine going berserk is just all awesome. And Jean showing how powerful she is.

I'd be extremely conflicted if mutants were real. I would probably sympathize with their plight of having to deal with extreme bigotry but at the same time there would be a part of me that would feel extremely uneasy about people running around with the power to end whole countries and the world. The X-Men franchise, comics and live action, was always great at addressing larger issues while remaining grounded in the human condition. Those themes are presented well in this film. The opening scene of X-2 is really great in establishing the apparent anger mutants have over their current condition while also showing how dangerous mutants can be to national security. X-2 has one of the best comic book film openings.

Brian Cox is a damn great actor. His portrayal of William Stryker in this film is a GOAT villain in comic book films. I hope we get a "Succession" reaction from Mr. Video one day.

I've always thought since seeing, The Boys, that is a pretty accurate world view. Same with 'Heroes' (The TV show). I live in the UK and I see it as pretty much a conversion of, those who want/have guns, those who don't/don't want them. You'll have people who inately have them and bad people who use them, people will protest about their use and that 'the gun isn't the problem, it's the person who uses it'. So basically a direct switch from, 'it isn't the power that's the problem, it's the person who uses it'. Which is pretty much X-Men 2. Charles uses his power (95%) of the time for good. Does he slip, can he slip, can he be pushed? Yes. Like all of us. The whole 'One bad day' thing. But there are people, like Stykers Son who get used by Stryker and people who want to just end the other party and believe that the world is better off their way and will go through any extreme to get there. There is no quick answer to would it be a better place, because the fact that we politic so hard, we all have free will and we all go through unique experience, it will always end up with serial killers getting powers and doing the worst thing, people putting 'laws' in place to stop people using powers because why should anyone have that power. I would love to be a Mutant and I would love a dope ass power. I'm pretty sure most would. But, in a world where we already have so much hate still, Racism, Sexism, Homophobia and so many more, can you imagine adding powers to the mix. Pretty much the saying of adding gasoline to the already burning building. We did an ethics study on this randomly when I was in University, it was a fun topic/lesson to do, seeing peoples answers, responses and their view points on how they personally see the world if that was a reality was definitely and experience.

Leo: I’d suggest reacting to Baby Reindeer (Netflix). Not just because it is an Emmy nominated series based on a true story with the real life dude acting as the lead (essentially his self), but also as a cautionary tale for anyone with a fan base. Always remember to be careful to not get caught up with just trying to be a nice guy responding (simply friendly to flirty) to a “fan”.
