Leo don't even listen to any of these guys this is pure 🔥🔥🔥you watch what you want and you are loving it! I gotta say I haven't watched these in a while, I know the props and costumes are a little on the goofy side, but I am super impressed by the dialogue and acting, especially Shatner and Nimoy. While Leonard Nimoy maintained a super stellar reputation for his entire career as an excellent actor, William Shatner somehow later on gained a notorious reputation for being a total ham LOL, not sure at what point it all went wrong?! He was really good here at the beginning of the show. I think it was during the first movie series when he got hair implants and started hamming it up instead of actually acting 🤷‍♀️

Sulu: "I'll protect you fair maiden!" Uhura: "Sorry, neither!" For its time, Uhura's response was fucking hilarious, somewhat controversial, and one of the best improvised lines in TV history. In context, fair traditionally meant gentle but also "light skinned" and maiden was viewed as a woman who was a lady but more specifically a female virgin. Nichelle Nichols was a national treasure.

It's a great series with excellent writing which makes up for the 1960s effects. The stories get even better as they develop the main characters.

Nobody really uses the term "fair skinned" anymore however at that time it was a term that was often used and her response was to the colloquialism of that era. Also, in that era of entertainment a "fair maiden" was mostly portrayed as white.
