Cayley

Hi Leo ❤️.

Mega

Please continue the DC ride, Shazam was a breath of fresh air and The Suicide Squad rules

Alucard

A Time To Kill, if you ever get the chance.

Rhoda J

Good timing Leo , nothing like a good afternoon matinee ( I was getting bored) 😂 so thank you for getting to this one quick, 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮 𝓨𝓸𝓾 💕🫶🏻💕🐐

DRIP DROP

Damn I was hoping for the office 🤣

Adam(Anti)

since you're doing classics, can you do Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)? Its still considered by many as the best comedy of all time. Leo, just google IDMB top funniest movies of all time, and only 1 king still stands at the top, Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Violet

SWEENEY TODD IS A MUSICAL FOR ADULTS, JOHNNY DEPP, AND A BUNCH OF THE HARRY POTTER CAST, AND BORAT!! I promise you'll love it!! P.s. your smile is SO ATTRACTIVE!!!!

Violet

Same

Violet

Can't wait for more South Park and The Office!!!!!!

Spooky

Gotta say. Never liked this version, many problems, wont mention the most obvious. But one gripe is charlie. It's like Leo said, old movies were more genuine. OG charlie was a real kid. He had hopes, and doubts. He would cry if he was sad. He was truly genuine. No shot at freddie highmore, but charlie didn't feel right here

Shane Normand

Now do Wonka from 2023 with Timothy Chalamet about how he got started making chocolate

Dudicus Bolt

Man a movie I’d like you to check out is Warcraft!! You played it in the day still feel like home.

DRIP DROP

Leo is the office getting dropped with the shows? Or is it gonna be separate

Adam(Anti)

co-sign for Borat 2 and sweeney todd

El Santo

alternate Dune where Paul Atreides conquered the universe with a chocolate empire instead of genocide

theOutcast

Nice, Now we have to see that Wonka 2023!

Shehab Dawoud

The scene with the apes was not from any of The Planet of The Apes films. It was from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Arguably the greatest film ever made and Stanley Kubrick's ultimate masterpiece. Please check it out, really fascinated to get your views on that! Maybe light one up before watching xD

DarnedStingray8

I first saw this movie at a Drive-In double feature with my parents, along with Batman Begins. It seems like I'm the only one in my family who remembers that though XD

Violet

I'd KILL for him to watch Borat 2! The cake scene....

Blade

this movie is trash compared to the first one. so much CGI and nothing memorable

C

One of the worst things ever put on screen

bitchnug

MATILDA!!! Keep the Roald Dahl coming!

Cayley

There was no reason for them to use CGI so much and it made the movie feel sterile as a result.

scwyd

gawd damn the comments are harsh asf. i grew up with this one so ive always loved it. never knew it was universally hated.

John Juan

But Black Dynamite! I sell drugs in the community!

anuhluh

Bro you a Bucks fan? Love the hat.

HashKetchum

There’s only like 4 comments voicing their displeasure lol not even close to as harsh as the comments have been on other movies

VYV77

Yeah. Still loving the older stuff lol, and usually recommend something from before the 80's, but this time I just gotta go with "Snowpiercer" 2013. That's all I'm saying.

Spencer Thurmond

Right at 30 min into the movie when the dad looses his job to the machines I thought…if we were a little further into South Park we could have got a Leo, “they terk errr jerbs!” quote right here. 😂🤣

Nathan

2001 a space odyssey or boogie nights soon? you need to see these

Jessica

I do agree with you. The way that I saw it though was the first one was more about Charlie story. And this one was more about Wonka story. In both movies I feel like are great with storyline because the first one we got to see more about Charlie story and his character change. This one we saw the same with Willy. We got to see his background and where he came from and why he was the way he was. And in the end he got his dad back but he got a whole entire new family also. It brought everyone back together in this one. For me I think they are both great in their own right. The first one though is just a classic. And you are right there is something about the originals and the older movies. That gives you emotion. This one it was more in Depp and Tim Burton style. Both have amazing meaning. And different.

Nathan

also pretty universally agreed the first one is peak wonka. gene wilder is a legend and id love to see you get into some of his other work, young frankenstein, blazing saddles, see no evil hear no evil. all great comedies with him

CJ

😭😭

CJ

Don’t think so, I’ve seen him wear a bulls one & lakers one as well.. just whatever goes with the fit he’ll throw the hat on.

Flukemarm

Since you've done Naked Gun and are watching OG Star Trek, you should watch Forbidden Planet (1956). Classic influential sci-fi movie with Leslie Nielsen in a rare "serious" role.

shawnn Dixon

As the guy who personally requested both of these on discord for the last year or so i just want to say thanks for watching these 2 classics. I know the original one has a tendency to put the new one to shame especially when you watch the 2 consecutively like you did, but they're both great movies in their own right. Again thank you for listening to your fans and being who you are Leo. EDIT: alright we get it everyone no one can best Gene wilder at his own game but the amount of people who are genuinely upset over something as petty as the lack of practical effects is just stupendous.

shawnn Dixon

that's fair, the entire post 2000's era in general has too much CGI for its own good, everyone enjoys

C

thanks chief

shawnn Dixon

cotton candy sheep, the squirrel room, chocolate birds, not memorable my left nut.

shawnn Dixon

i second this Monty Python is a Must same with Princess bride.

Steevn Sonder

They're watching 2001 A Space Odyssey on the tv when the apes are fucking with the wonka bar. Great movie.

Shep

This movie gets way too much hate. I think I prefer the OG a little bit more, but this one went it's own way, did it's own thing without trying to copy the original. Roald Dahl really didn't like the 1972 movie but his widow gave Tim Burton her blessing to make this when he ran his script and designs by her.

Blade

the 2nd one is not a classic....

Blade

if you like the movie that fine but dont lie about it. non of that was memorable. Leo proves it. Someone who never watched these movies before watched it back to back and the original is 10x better.

Venner

Joe's better in this one: it's closer adapted to the novel and he's purer and more archetypal here.

moises magana

Wonka next?? and I'll ask again hopefully you check out desperado!!!!

O.T

You gotta end this & watch WONKA. Suuuurely.

Jim

Couldn't agree more with Leo on this one.

The 15

Gotta wrap up the Willy Wonka movies and watch 'Wonka (2023)' It's a pretty fresh movie which i know you don't really watch but still a good vibe. I'd say it's better than this one but worse than the 70s one.

EJ

It’s crazy how often ya commentary is the exact same and at the same time as the movie lines 😂

TG

The older movies got that touch i don't know if you reacted to the wiz but the songs on there were 🔥 still my favorite scene is the subway one

Fatal N Felony

good morning starshine the earth says hello!

Chris

I thoroughly enjoy the original and Wonka, this movie just doesn’t vibe for me. It’s fine. I’ll watch it. But I never have the urge to.

Fatal N Felony

johnny was entertaining but that was about as good as it got lol

Kathryn Brooks

The original is better but this was for the next generation

CJ

Maybe not for you old heads but for the 2000’s generation it definitely is for them lol.

Dry Ooze

Leo the movie wonka sent the chocolate to was 2001 a space odyssey and it’s a classic you should definitely check it out

Stef Furness

August Rush is a fantastic rom com that came out shortly after this starring the kid that plays Charlie. He's a musical savant trying to find his musical genius parents through the music he hears every where. He also meets Robin Williams along the way...would be great for weirdguy. ✌️

John Juan

Little Richard??????

Laura Thate

@Mr.Video hi Leo, I absolutely agree with you 100% I remember watching the original with my children and it was such fun. But Tim Burton as a director is very odd. He always uses Johnny Depp and the actress who played the mama movies back in the old days had strict timelines and budgets, and they looked for the most talented writers and singers, actors and actresses. They knew they had to make a winning show and they used all the emotion in context that helped us connect to the characters and the story. Tim Burton like with Edward Scissorhands all his movies feel very cold and detached even when they’re supposed to be emotional.I love the movies from my era 1950s through the 80s much better quality!

Michael Eng

I agree with you Willy wonka and the chocolate factory is a classic and it is better than this one. This was fine though

Benny Boy

Yes Charlie is from bates motel and his mom is Bellatrix from Harry Potter

TJ Harrington

This one is just… too silly? Idk I enjoyed it for what it is (not much), and I can’t help but to compare this to the OG, which is a masterpiece IMO. I like how you did the two movies back to back, that made for a much more fun watch!

Veronica

Gene Wilder (the first Wonka) thought the newer version was an insult. He said Johnny was a good actor but he didn't like the director (Tim Burton). Wilder thought of it as a cash grab. Unfortunately, Wilder died from Alzheimer's, I would have loved to see his opinion on the movie Wonka with Timothée Chalamet. Personally, I grew up on Wilder's Wonka so it'll always be my favorite but I do love Burton as a director overall and of course Depp as an actor. I also agree with Wilder that the movie was a cash grab. They took an already great and beloved story, "modernized it" for the current generation, slapped a slightly different title on it and threw it out knowing that Depp's popularity would sell it.

The Joy

I think I liked it when I was younger..Now much older this kinda sucks lol

Vito

I always thought it was weird how depp played wonka like Micheal Jackson lol. Tim burtons style just doesn’t work for wonka imo.

James Therian

I really did not like the actor choice for Charlie in this one- He was good in roles like Bates Motel where his awkward emotionless presence worked but Charlie in the OG Felt like a real Kid with real emotions all over the place. The OG is Magic while this one was simply a mildly entertaining Tim Burton revisioning that's not really worth a rewatch imo, I don't think it intended to compete in anyway with the OG. Cheers!!

Angel Pantoja

Ngl I watched depps version first when I was younger than years later the gene wilder one and I agree. The original was too authentic

Christian Wetzel

First movie is all time great, this one is forgettable

kevin staab

I agree I like the other one better You should watch a movie called the outsiders

Alice Delgado

Gene Wilder gave a public interview, saying he found remakes like this to be an insult

Quanah

I like to see this not as a remake, but just another movie on its own. It's too trippy and different to deny this movie all the way through. Both movies are good to me. It's time to smoke a joint with some dark chocolate now. Mariwonka chocolate fact: eating dark chocolate 45 minutes prior to smoking can prolong and enhance your high. Careful, though. Too much can make you paranoid, so go slow.

D-Matrix

Finally got this one out the way. Been falling asleep on it for weeks. After watching it, mehh. Has its good parts, has its bad parts, has its Tim Burton starring Johnny Depp parts. Then the ending, if a little kid is watching this, I feel they'd be left with more questions than anything.
