If you enjoy WW2 movies similar to this where there's a good mix of realism and comedy, I'd highly recommend The Book Thief. The Boy in The Stripped Pajama's tho not as comedic is another I'd highly recommend.

great movie.. been wanting to watch this for a while and you were right it was funny hilarious,and sadly heart breaking ,this is definitely an important movie and hopefully people learn from this movie especially in these fucked up times, like nelson mandela said "no one is born hating another person because of the color of their skin or their background or their religion people must learn to hate ,and if they can learn to hate ,they can be taught to love" ! .. and another important lesson is FUCK NAZIS ! That brand of patriotism isn't based on foundational principles but is the type of "patriotism" formed by idolatry and blind hate. We're going to need more "pussies" in the coming times. To answer your question at the end, Klenzendorf and Finkle were gay and probably lovers but had to keep their relationship hidden. Homosexuals were one of the first groups hunted by the Nazi's so it makes a lot of sense why he may have had knowledge about Rosie's activities. She may have helped them in the past. Another WWII film that brilliantly mixes the humor and drama is "Life is Beautiful".

Wow. What a film. I started this and was kinda put off by how they were making light of hating Jews, and Hitler and stuff, but holy shit, it totally turned around and brought tears to my eyes. Loved the style and mix of genres. Great cast, that kid is an awesome actor. Idk how he was able to pull that much emotion for a 10 year old. A+ film

This just punches you in the gut and doesnt stop.... such a powerful movie... not many could pull it off but i think its quite perfectly done. The satire the comedy the actual grit and absurdity of these times just portrayed beautifully..
