The issue you bring up is one of the reasons why movies are struggling at the box office. When I was younger, it would sometimes take a full year before a movie was released on VHS/DVD. A film had another life in discount theaters after initial release; theaters that used to be commonplace in small town USA. Now there's no real incentive to go see these films in theaters when the turnaround time from theatrical release to home release is so short.

Most normal people enjoyed this movie. The only ones who didn't are far-right nutjobs and zionists, as it has a clear reference to the genocide in Gaza. I liked it, but thought it was a little bit too much on the cartoony side. Look forward to rewatching it.

Its a good fun movie. Lex always playing chess while everyone else playing checkers. All side characters were done well. It takes place in an alternative earth where metropolis and gotham exist, rather than retconning into the real world, all these things combined with the advanced scifi tech makes it feels like a comic book on screen.

Having Superman deal with a complex international conflict would actually make for an interesting movie with moral dilemmas. Superman could actually be a guiding light that teaches the audience something relevant to real life. I'm not debating the "genocide" in Leo's comment section. Suffice it to say, I'm no fan of Israel. But the conflict is not so simple. I wonder how careful you'd be about your language when describing the events of October 7th. All of a sudden, a one word description like "terrorism" is an oversimplification that ignores historical context. Making a cartoonishly evil nation lead by a cartoonishly evil Trump/Netanyahu hybrid caricature that works with an Elon Musk caricature to steal land because they're jealous and dumb, and have Superman make this character piss himself, and have Hawkgirl kill him, is just lefty slop made for children and Twitter.

Also, before you watch Peacemaker season 2 you should watch Creature Commandos. It's the first thing introduced in the DCU and it brings us Rick Flag senior, he was shown in this movie and is a main character in Peacemaker season 2. He is the dad of Colonel Rick Flag who Peacemaker killed in The Suicide Squad. The proper viewing would be 1. Peacemaker season 1 2. Creature Commandos 3. Peacemaker season 2

I never cared about his biological parents or the Kryptonians. Superman's origin story was always dumb to me and was plot point anyway because it just reinforced the importance of the Kents as being the parents who raised him on Earth. The Kents were fine, I didn't see anything hick about them. They're from the Midwest, they're supposed to be country. How else were they supposed to be? At least Pa Kent gave great advice and seemed to have a great relationship with Clark unlike Synder's Man of Steel Pa Kent (the WORST PA Kent EVER!!!)

This is the best Superman movie since the Christopher Reeves movie. I love it. Superman always has been and always will be woke. The Superman radio show went after the KKK at the height of the KKK's popularity (in the 1940s). The people who did the radio show received multiple death threats. I agree with @GameGod. It was probably a message altered by Brainiac. The film set up Lex Luthor as being uber intelligent so the message could have been tampered with by him as well. It's fully within Lex's capability to fool even the greatest minds in their field. I didn't have an issue with his parents. Living in flyover country, that's the type of people you run into.

The people hating on this movie out themselves. The conflict shown in the film is similar to many government forces fighting the people storylines we've seen with other Superman stories and DC comic book characters throughout the decades; in particular the storylines involving Bialya. The knee jerk reaction of people complaining about putting politics in the film because they see that conflict is an analogy to the Israel-Palestinian Conflict feels almost as if it's a reaction from a place of guilt.

I went to the cinema for this one and i dint regret it, i really enjoyed it and i feel like this is more akin to the superman I grew up with, as much as henry cavills superman was really cool, its like his soul was gone, in this hes a symbol of hope again, and i personally like that! As a causal watcher of superhero movies, and not really into the newer DC/Marvel stuff (2010’s), I enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. I can see why people didn’t like it, but it turned me into a Superman fan. Never considered myself one before this film.

1:20:40 that's hilarious. Lex Luthor is a petty hater 😂 It wouldn't surprise me if him knocking over that cup full of pencils was improvised at some point by the actor and James Gunn decided to rewrite that part in the movie. Nicholas Hoult was f'ing great in this film. Michael Rosenbaum's version of Lex is my favorite portrayal but Nicholas's spin on the character in future movies could make him my favorite live action version of the character.

The composers did a fantastic job of implementing the John Williams Superman theme and putting their own spin on it. Also, I think the criticism that Superman got bodied this entire film is unfair. He was going against Lex and Ultraman....those aren't lightweights.

@Chaos T I don' think the message was altered. The movie made a point MULTIPLE TIMES to say that the message was NOT altered. Lex said it TWICE in the movie that he DID not alter the message. He even said he went to Fortress of Solitude to find evidence to use against Superman but didn't think Superman parents would be the ones who would do it for him. Lex was even surprised about that message, so I know he didn't alter it. The secretary of defense said the message was real and even Mr. Terrific confirmed that the message was real. Even Gunn in interviews said, the message was real. I would be surprised if Gunn later in another movie changes that storyline and now the message was in fact altered. Besides, the whole point of the message being real was to reinforce that Clark's individual actions and choices makes him who his is, NOT Jor-el or Lara. And it also reinforces the importance of the Kents which is why at the end of the movie, the message that soothes him now is his childhood and upbringing with the Kents, the parents who raised him to be the man that he is and chooses to be.

The message was too convenient to Luthor's plan for me to believe that was the original message. Lex created a pocket universe and global skullduggery in this film. The film established it's not beyond Lex's capability to lie and slightly doctor the footage for his advantage. Also beyond the words we understand as language, communication requires us to understand the context of those words. Phrases such as "Lord over the planet" might mean something completely different on Krypton versus what it means on Earth. Even an earthling using that same line could intend for that phrase to have different meanings depending on the context for which it's used. The message could be real but the humans translating it could be wrong in their translation. The only Rosetta Stone humanity has for Kryptonian language is Clark Kent and his cousin. If it turns out the message was altered by Brainiac or Lex in some grand scheme, James Gunn isn't going to reveal plans for future movies in current interviews.

I saw this in the theaters, so this was my second watch through. I originally gave it a 7.5/10 the first time seeing it, but now I'm giving it a 7/10. It's ok and it has its moments, but it's far from great. I've only seen Man of Steel once, and I did enjoy it, but I'll have to see that one again to really see which one is better. But I have a feeling that Man of Steel is a bit better.

Glad they made Mr Terrific look good in a fight scene. I mean bad ass especially that move where he used the T-Sphere to fly 1 handed with a straight face. Way better than the version that was on the CW shows. Btw, would love to see you react to those, but honestly with all the crossovers they had and pauses mid season while other shows continued, its hard to keep up with the full story unless you were there (or have a very detailed list which can be found online to tel you which order to watch the shows). Too bad tho 😏
