Mazo

Gabagool . Bring back music intro for Patreon members. WHATS GOING ON

Shehab Dawoud

All these random movies and not Heat which finished a close 2nd twice within a week…

Steevn Sonder

I hope this, Toy Story and Field of Dreams washed out all the Smile for you.

IVAN OOZE

He needs to smoke more weed

Mega

time to roll a joint and play some Dark Side Of The Moon in another tab while watching this lmfao

janscrazy

When this first came out people literally shit their pants in the theater.

Zen-Aku

Ohhh shit... A classic ❤️. About to load up 🌿🔥😤💨😎 and lock in for this one 🔐.

DarnedStingray8

One of the greatest movies of all time! BTW because I know someone's gonna say it, NO a midget did NOT hang himself in the background of a shot!

MajorMayhem

Thanks Leo, Gonna click my heels 3 times and go to a reality where you dropped Daredevil S2 and Peacemaker S1. 😁

Shep

One of the most perfect examples of a timeless tale that has aged with beauty and grace. It was a very early color film and let the world know that film was truly a living, evolving art form. If you're up for something really different, Return to Oz is the perfect movie for the Halloween season. It's closer to the books than this film, but really takes a freaky spin on them, too. Much love, Leo

Edgar Gonzalez

Oh and Mr Video, well you know. 1. BOURNE SUPREMACY 2. BETTER CALL SAUL

Rhoda J

Ok , this is the old old classic this will be fun, ya better keep on sanging Leo, cause I’m loving it 🥰, can’t wait to watch this 👍 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮 𝓨𝓸𝓾 💕🫶🏻💕🐐

astrobuckshot

Still one of the all time great classics. I don't think any movie has more quotable quotes. Looking forward to this, Mr. V!

Kluneberg

Sam Raimi directed a prequel in 2013 called Oz the Great and Powerful starring James Franco and Mila Kunis

Kevin Keo Reacts

youhave to watch MOONWALKER IN HONOR OF MICHEAL JACKSON

Nunya Business

Definitely watch with Pink Floyd now that you've seen it. It's fun.

Greg

I actually found the guy hanging himself in the background. It was in the trees. I was bored one day at a big box store (worked there), they were playing this on loop.

mrcinsc

And in another alternate universe I’m watching the Gen V and The Boys reactions by you.

Greg

Casablanca (critics say is the #1 movie ever, Humphrey Bogart!) Or one of those really old movies before sound... just to say you've seen one.

Dry Ooze

This movie hurts to watch now

Claudette

I so thought this was going to be Terrifier 3 since we left the series after Art died

Nathan

Oh I hope this is the original!!! Thank you Leo great pick!

Benjamin Herrera

Oh man this was unexpected but so sick love this movie! "So my house landed right up on some neighborhood trick Huh that's the shit huh, look there go her feet sick! Would be the shit big homie If I could walk with you And talk with you And get up on a fat bag or two Cuz I've been hanging from this pole for so long And smoking on home grown, my head ache is full blown I ain't the smartest scarecrow in the hat But if you lift that little latch And I go crashing into a pumpkin patch Don't leave me hanging big homie Just pull the lever So we can just get to walkin the yellow alley together" - Monoxide Child

Oelala

All 4 would be sick 🤞🏾

theOutcast

Started as a myth due to low quality vhs, then was debunked in the 90s. Then one fake edit uploaded to youtube and now folks believe it again lol

DarnedStingray8

Every reaction I watch to this movie someone in the comment section spreads the myth over again! Debunking it is a reflex at this point XD

Steevn Sonder

What albums? Everyone says just Dark Side but it's only like half the length of the film?

Nicole

I loved that one too

The 15

Like how you did Toy Story the other day, the 1st fully CGI movie, and now you've done Wizard of Oz, the first ever movie with COLOR!! You should watch Wicked next! Wicked 2 comes out at the end of the year and it would be good to get on the train while you've got Wizard of Oz fresh in your mind.

BlakedAsFuh

This movies such an acid trip lol

BlakedAsFuh

Yeah, its been replaced by a goose for a long long time tho

VYV77

Gotta 2nd Return to Oz. Freaky might even be putting it lightly lol.

Shep

It's one of my favorites

Shep

I think Gone with the Wind beat Wizard of Oz to color by just a few months, but I could be wrong.

The 15

WoO beat GwtW by 4 months

VYV77

So glad you got to this one. Been hoping for this one for years now. Made my day again. Thanks. As always, "The Hustler" 1961. Also maybe "Return to Oz" now that you've seen this. Someone else in the comments said it would make a good Halloween watch. I agree.

Nunya Business

Ya, it's only Dark Side and yes it's not the whole movie. 🤷

theOutcast

Lol they are claiming it up there ^^^

DarnedStingray8

THERE IS NO ONE HANGING IN THE BACKGROUND! Go get your eyes checked!! It’s one of the Sarus Cranes present through the whole scene! I’m so sick of this fucking myth!!

Daniel Watches

I love this movie so much, such a well made production for the time and it still holds up today. There's no place like home!

theOutcast

The birds were on set for the scene. The myth started due to the low quality of vhs. Then at some point in the late 90s, early 00s someone edited in the hanging person and that clip has floated around ever since. There are breakdowns of it. It’s clearly fake.

~ ChelZee ~

He did Casablanca a few years ago. It's likely no longer in the Patreon.

John K

This the most random movie to drop... i love it, lol.

MSTORM

Boomers and this movie possibry? Lmao

Casino

You should read about the dark history of the production of this movie its actually really fucked up

Sai

Ok now I gotta see him watch wicked frl

El Santo

I highly recommend the 1980s sequel to this movie Return To Oz, it gets into the darker source material of Oz. L. Frank Baum the author of the series was inspired by dark fairy tales, and Return to Oz nails that setting to a tee

Chaos T

Return to Oz scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.

Chaos T

Return to Oz is a terrifying fever dream

Trish Belshe

Great reaction Leo. What a great movie. I see it at least once a year and I have since I was a girl. 🩷

Huniii

Surely on the list

Shep

I know, isn't it great?

skz

This just isn't true at all. Wizard of Oz actually isn't even in the first 100 movies with color. We've had color since 1914 with The World, The Flesh, and the Devil and there were hundreds more color films in the 1910s and 1920s. WoO was the first Technicolor movie for that specific technology but color films were around for 25 years before WoO.

skz

Hoping for some good movies soon. Quite a drought lately.

Juley

💕I grew up on the Wizard of Oz! We watched it every year when in came on TV. For years I was afraid of flying monkeys living under my bed. 🐒I used to surround myself with stuffed animals when I went to sleep so they could protect me! And the Cowardly Lion was my favorite too!❤️❤️❤️

Juley

Now go back and rewatch Twister to see if you can catch all the references to The Wizard of Oz. My favorite is the cow 🐄 flying around in the tornado!

Suzanne Anderson

Just finished watching with you. So much fun, Leo! Ya'll have a great weekend! HUGZ!

Suzanne Anderson

There was a made for TV movie called the Dreamer of Oz. It was about L. Frank Baum, the man who wrote Wizard of Oz. It's good. Check it out!

Daniel Watches

not to mention literally calling their machine 'Dorothy' lol

NinaB

Love this! Next stop, The Wiz 💃🏽

Cayley

❤️

Cayley

Nightmare fuel 😂.

Tony 2 Times

You always switch it up on us, great choice 🤙🤙🤙🤙please finish American Pie series🙏

Cayley

Strange that you should watch this movie now after I mentioned it years ago because there has been a few breakdowns on the conspiracy side of Twitter in the last few weeks that explained what this is likely about and it appears to be about gold in some way so the yellow brick road is the gold bullion and oz refers to ounces which is the measurement used to weigh gold.

Cayley

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)

James Therian

There is rarely just one hidden meaning to a film. This is a reference yes but there is so much more that goes much darker, including the red shoes.

Felicia Wiggins

Crazy that I still wana watch it with him even though we both prolly seen it 100x lol!!

James Thompson

If toy story scared him. chitty will with give him the runs (that's British for the shits, fyi)

James Thompson

Return to Oz..1985 sequel..it's pure horror Leo it's so good (in a creepy way)😆

AshTone Audio

Only saying this cause I haven't seen a comment yet that has. Motion Picture is the traditional term used for video//movies. On film, video was 24 pictures for every 1 second of film. So what we perceive as movement (video) is actually 24 still images ran in front of our eyes at a speed that looks like movement. Of course there are other frame rates, but 24 is the most popular as of today. So "This motion picture" means "this movie".

Sara Croughan

I thought I was the only one that watched this every year. It came on TV! It was a tradition in my household back in the '80s

Dry Ooze

Look it up the actors were better off not doing this movie

Sara Croughan

This is such a magical movie. I'll never forget how it made me feel as a child ❤️

Nathan

Could be said about nearly every old Hollywood production 🤷‍♂️

Dry Ooze

They used asbestos as the snow the actors got really sick the asbestos was everywhere they even used it as like stuffing or something for the scarecrow there was also a lot of others but that’s the big thing for me it was hard to watch that scene again I’m not really good at explaining stuff so if your interested look it up on it’s some crazy stuff and I get what ur saying about he entertaining industry but still

Filby Pott

I hope you'll watch Return to Oz from 1985! It's based on the second and third books in the series!

Filby Pott

Jack Pumpkinhead my boi

Filby Pott

yeah poor Margaret Hamilton almost burned alive

James Thompson

The wheelers and the headless W.... I don't wanna spoil it but c'mon, those were the real horror 😆

James Thompson

He watched butterfly effect already. Great movie though

kevin staab

This is history, it’s one of the first movies to have color

C

Clueless

Chaos T

I don't know what it is about older films but the color usage, particularly in Wizard of Oz, is done brilliantly and looks stunning even by today's standards.

Chaos T

The behind-the-scenes stuff with Wizard of Oz was unfortunately more normal than not at that time. Actors safety, mental health, and physical/sexual abuse weren't something studios really cared about back then. There are rare exceptions where action was taken such as in the vile case of Fatty Arbuckle but those few cases were due to public outrage where the studios couldn't hide wrongdoing.

Chaos T

I haven't seen it since I was a kid. It would be wild to have a smoke or two and watch Leo react to it with adult eyes

Chaos T

41:20 if I saw a scarecrow do that, it would be time to get the shotgun 😂

Gruffydd

I love the movie, but I do wish they'd been a little more faithful to the books, and not had it be an "it was all a dream" ending. The books are so much more complex and wonderful. And forget that "there's no place like home" stuff. In the books, the banks foreclose on the farm, and Dorothy takes her aunt and uncle to live in Oz permanently, since the ruler of Oz has declared her an official princess of Oz. But that's not until the sixth book in the series, and there's so much that happens in between. A lot of that in between stuff is featured in the Disney movie "Return to Oz" which is very much worth watching.

Gruffydd

Once you've seen Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee, you should also see "Kentucky Fried Movie", a sketch comedy movie from the guys who brought you Airplane! and The Naked Gun. Though perhaps for Patreon only, it gets a bit spicy for YouTube. The movie contains a dream of extraordinary magnitude.

Kathryn Brooks

I watched that for the first time back when Disney plus launched and I was horrified 😂

Kathryn Brooks

I used to have a crush on scarecrow when I was young because he was smart. And I still am attracted to intelligent men who lead 😂

Courtney manis

now for the love of Oz, PLEEEEEEEEASE go watch wicked 💚🖤🩷 the music alone will you have floored. I'm so glad you loved this as much as you did!

Chuck M

No don't watch wicked I heard it's horrible

Chuck M

Awesome watching this classical one so much around the movie death on set , little people orgys in hotel,

Chuck M

I wonder which one hung himself is in opening scene of munchkins

Chuck M

Yes Leo this is where lions tigers bears came from, alot came from this movie think back then and way they did it was crazy look up history on it ,

Mike Tunnicliff

Hey Mr video I'm enjoying your reviews and reactions just joined up with patreon for you. For an interesting compare and contrast movie, you should say Shirley Temple in the Blue Bird made the following year. That was 20th century Fox's attempt at the wizard of Oz. It's different and it's not as well known it's based on a play by aMaurice Maeterlinc it was kind of interesting because Shirley Temple was originally tapped to play Dorothy . she was actually closer to the right age than Judy Garland was. Judy Garland was 17 when this came out, Shirley Temple was 12. although in the book I believe Dorothy is 9. The girl in return to Oz is actually the right age but the Shirley Temple will be interesting for its own reasons just thought I'd mention it as a possibility

Mike Tunnicliff

Hey Mr video, I know you've seen the wiz, but you should check out if you can find it there was an episode of Fame where one of the main characters had a I think it was some sort of dream sequence where she thought she was in the land of eyes or at least Fame's version of it. I saw that before I saw the wiz. You might find it interesting

John Juan

Great reaction. This is a classic where a lot of lingo comes from. The sets look great. For the most part the acting aged well too. There's a magic and mythos to this movie. Lots of things were inspired by this movie. I love the dream logic and the foreshadowing. Isn't Judy's voice beautiful in Rainbow? Last time I watched this I queued it up with Dark Side of The Moon :D
