You know thinking back. These movies were terrible adaptations of the books. Missing tech aside. That flashback at the beginning is completely different from how Thomas is actually picked up from wicked. Not to mention his mother wouldnt call him Thomas since his real name is Steven. Wicked renamed them all after historical figures and tortured them til they accepted these new names.

The author is a devout Mormon. The story isn't political, it's religious. A corrupt and evil humanity suffers from an incurable plague and wrathful natural disasters. Science is inadequate for solving the problem. Scientists are corrupt and evil. The solution is guidance by a wise man that resists the temptations of wickedness. He leads a small group of followers. He is betrayed by one of his followers, who is also the only woman and his would-be partner. Seem familiar? It's just the Bible again.

Thomas is every bit a "Mary Sue" if I've ever seen one. He's always right, always virtuous, and always successful, even when he's acting on pure instinct with no training. That's intentional because he's Jesus. He's tested multiple times and always demonstrates perfect virtue. He has faith in Teresa and forgives her for betraying him, vowing only to kill Page (the devil) who influences Teresa (Eve). Gabrielle is saved by drinking his blood, but will always need more (every Sunday). The next movie is even called "The Death Cure." How much more obvious can it be? He might lose a couple friends along the way, but there's absolutely no mystery about how this story is going to go. Thomas will continue being perfect and through him some portion of humanity will be saved so long as they follow him. The first time I watched the movie, I wondered what the point was of leaving Wicked just to go back. But it makes perfect sense as a demonstration of how sinful humanity is, and how following Thomas is their path to salvation.

You mean because Teresa is the one that betrays him, serving the Judas role in the narrative? Judas being male is not important to the Jesus story. So why are you being so literal? In a modern retelling, a woman is perfectly capable of playing the Judas role. I make the "only woman" point because she's also serving an Eve role. She's manipulated by the forces of evil. Despite being with God, she's convinced the agent of wickedness is correct, and thus unwittingly betrays God for Satan and gets expelled from God's grace. Both comparisons, Judas and Eve, could not be more apt.

Cobra is coming to a close in the next few uploads and derry just finished, I’d say it’s the perfect time to add a drama to the rotation, otherwise it’s all comedy and anime, Lost or Better Call Saul is what Id want for Christmas 😂
