While I appreciate this film as part of cinema history and for what it was in the time - a bold satire - I just don't find it....funny. I've tried a few times over my lifetime, but I don't think I ever finished it. Some parts are amusing, but overall? Meh. It does not hold up well. But it was fun hanging out with Leo and Friend! I'd love to see Jordan really laugh at something gut busting.

Also show bro Men In Tights. It has Dave Chappelle and a few call backs to Blazing Saddles. Also Young Frankenstein is a legitimate classic from Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder (The Waco Kid). The liberal use of the N word was meant to show how stupid racists are and was also just common verbiage at the time. It's not a standard of Mel's films. And oh god with the sequel finally coming next year you need to see Spaceballs: The Movie.

😎 👍 👍 I think this is my 10th time of watching this movie and it NEVER gets tiring, i love Gene Wilder (R.I.P. 😢 💔) and ALL of Mel Brooks' movies are ALWAYS a blast to watch. You two did a good job at enjoying this Masterpiece that'll NEVER go out of style (sure HATE it that it's True how nowadays, that movie would NEVER make it 'cause of ALL of the Cry-Baby BiiiTCHES who would demand to cancel it instantly). Have a good weekend to you two and also to Y'all out there. :-)

This one and Young Frankenstein are absolute classics. But I think you'd also really enjoy History of the World Part 1. And High Anxiety is great fun too, but you have to know Hitchcock's movies to really get the jokes, since it's a parody of his films. Later in his career he spoofed specific single films/franchises, and those are fun too. Robin Hood: Men in Tights is specifically a spoof of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Spaceballs is mostly Star Wars with a little Star Trek and a scattering of other SF classics.

This kinda healed the shame I've been carrying for over 15 years when I "showed" this film at work (but auditory, we would listen to films while we were fabricating) and there was a conservative black woman who hadn't seen it and after the 3rd N bomb I turned it off and had to grovel and apologize for sharing an intense satire

Oh, I've seen it. It's not the "boldness" that is the problem, it's that the humor is ... dumb. Spaceballs is more gentle, but still...dumb. I can watch absurdist Monty Python over and over forever. I don't know why I find Python funny, but Brooks lame, but...that's how my humor developed.

Loved this film back in the 80s😂. Try some other Mel Brooks films. Another hilarious one is a total spoof of Robin Hood. Its 'Robin Hood Men in Tights'. Also 'Spaceballs' which takes the piss out of the Star wars films. Hilarious 😂
