Guy Fawkes, Nov 5th, etc only entered the mainstream American lexicon when this movie came out. Most people probably think the Guy Fawkes mask is the "Anonymous mask" at this point.

One of the unfortunate details that this story kind of glosses over in its setup is that Guy Fawkes wasn't trying to blow up Parliament out of some love of justice or freedom but because he wanted to see a Catholic reinstated on the English throne.

"Children of Men" is an excellent scifi film that has similar themes to "V for Vendetta" and a must watch if you're into films with a dark future setting. The production and direction stuff in that film is next level.

V didn't do anything to her brain. She found her own true defiance in refusing to give him up to the evil government because as characters V, the girl in the story, Evie are all victims and they have solidarity in not furthering the amount those other than themselves get victimized. It's honestly easy to talk about this movie without getting political because it's fiction. As long as one doesn't get bored enough with their own lives and become unable to accept responsibility of their own actions to instead draw silly 1 to 1 comparisons between fictional purposely villainous political caricatures and those in power without evil intent which happen to exist at the same time as tragedy. Motive is always a factor, and it just being "power" is highly nonsensical and evil villain fantasy. There are no coincidences, there is just creative writing applying destiny to coincidences. Governments are too stupid and accident prone to do anything near as malicious as it does in this film.

I forgot how much I used to love this movie. Back when I didn’t even have internet at home, I had those gas station dvd’s and this one got played out. Even my girl at the time who wasn’t really into action movies liked it. Now post covid it hits different but still great.

Every single person reading this needs to vote AGAINST Trump in 2024, otherwise almost every bad and evil thing we see in this movie will come true for our government.
