Interesting discussion about what to do in case of a potential outbreak. That island idea sounds nice, did you ever read World War Z though? It's a series of anthologies, and at least one story mentions that, while zombies may not swim, they also don't drown. So there's a chance they'd just wander around the seabed and potentially reach your island regardless. Speaking off, World War Z also had an interesting part about how the governments around the world dealt with the situation. Surprisingly, Israel was one of the governments who dealt with the crisis the best, due to having their Devil's Advocate Intelligence Unit. I don't know how familiar you are with the "the tenth man rule", but it basically states that, whenever there are ten people in a room, and nine of them unanimously agree on something, it's the duty of the tenth person, no matter their actual beliefs or opinions, to argue against the other nine people's vote to the best of their ability, to ensure every topic is treated with the proper care. So, when most people dismissed the news of zombie outbreaks as hogwash, the tenth guy had to take it seriously and come up with an effective countermeasure. Thus, when shit did hit the fan, they actually had a proper plan to fall back on, unlike every other government in the world. It's a rather interesting read. I'd recommend it, if you are into that kind of thing. Also Max Brooks's other book "The Zombie Survival Guide". As for me, I don't have a solid plan. I don't have any delusions. I'm an out of shape asthmatic, I'll probably be one of the first to go. I'll just see how far my scuba wetsuit, with an extra layer of military grade duct tape on top of it, can get me (they may be undead, but their teeth are still those of a human, so good luck biting through that), and hope I can save a couple people who'll name their child after me, before I'll inevitably go down
