okay, some additional things not included from the novel in the show i learned about on the other side^^ the guy who killed whoever tanya was in her previous life, was actually much more of a sleazebag than portrait in the anime. the guy had been embezzling money from the company for years on top of causing a lot of trouble in general, which was the real reason he got fired from the company. it's also important to know that, unlike in reality, the empire isn't actually really the bad guy here. it was the government of the northern alliance (the area around norway, sweden, ect) that started the war by trying to annex the northern part of the empire (roughly were denmark is in the real world), by claiming it was historically theirs, to help raise morals in their homeland. they were arrogant enough to believe the empire wouldn't do anything about it, which turned out to be very much not the case. lastly, keep in mind "tanya the evil" is a localized descriptor not featured in the original japanese. tanya's just a being who's almost completely driven by logic, rather than someone outright evil. it's not like she does things because of malice or spite, but simply because it's the most efficient way to do things, without morals getting in the way of her decisions. she's actually not that bad of a person overall, but a lot of her more humane actions were cut from the anime for time.
